6) Added a plastic bottom to the car battery (it’s not really visible but still looked weird as it was, just an empty bottomless shell). 7) Installed all the kit parts, connected all the wires, looks quite nice, appropriately “busy”! Although it’s a bit ahead of current instructions, I decided to install the gearshift assembly in the interior. 1) Using a micro drill for the rounded parts and a new X-Acto blade, I cut out the openings in the gearshift base and polished them up. It now has appropriate “depth”. 2) Installed a piece of rubber-like material under the base to simulate rubber boot; installed the switch (whatever it’s called) made from a piece of bent and filed to shape wire into the upper lefthand corner. 3) Cut off the gearshift stem and replaced it with a piece of a steel pin; removed the seam on the gearshift knob and painted the bottom with chrome paint; installed the gearshift into the base on superglue. Pack 09 is expected in about a week. Thanks, guys. I am enjoying the build. The mods do make it look less like a toy. Final (I hope) spare tire compartment is below. File Attachment(s): LC2.jpg (299kb) downloaded 14 time(s). I am just catching up on this build now. What a wonderful job! I was curious did you apply the auto wax to all the "leather" surfaces in the interior? I am building this kit myself and found the plastic a bit too shiny. Your interior is much more realistic. I may steal your wax idea

Hi rjfk2002, sorry, just saw your post. It's a great kit, are you going to have a lot of fun with it. I used car treatments products -- Armorall tire shine silicon spray on all tires, and carnauba wax-based polish on the bucket seats and the spare tire insert, that's it. Some parts do appear a bit too shiny, you may use gloss enamel spray on them (carefully, in light mist coats) if you like. I used it occasionally on some parts. Have fun and feel free to ask any further questions! Completed Building Walter Wolf's Lamborghini Countach LP 500S, Harley Davidson Fat Boy, Suzuki GSX 1300R Hayabusa, Honda CB750. Stages 28-29. Electronics checked out OK, gearstick assembly (with modifications) and ashtray had already been completed earlier. Stage 29. Followed the directions to treat seat belt decals with Mr. Metal primer and flat back spray lacquer. Attached the decals and placed the belts and the floor mats. The cockpit looks awesome! I am trying to think of a way to apply the red Lambo bull logo on the floor mats. Maybe a using a photoetched mask…. Stage 30. I was debating about disassembling the shock absorbers to clean up the lengthwise seam but decided that it’s too much of a hassle, so I just used gloss enamel on the heads and installed them as is. The black part is not quite correct (it should have a larger, not smaller, diameter than the bare metal part) but again to much hassle to correct, and they will be barely visible anyway. Looking good Dave, the blue seat belts really help to make cockpit jump out at you.
That's an interesting idea with the carpet logo, will be watching to see if you tackle this mod

Pack 10 still being about three weeks off, as my wife sometimes says, “It’s time to accessorize!” 1. Having trawled the internet, I’ve found pictures of as many 1970s Countach manuals and documentation as I could and reproduced them in approximate 1/8 scale. The results are in pictures below; left to right and top to bottom - Countach LP500s Owner’s Handbook (with a transparent cover); - Warranty & Service Manual; - Countach LP500s Driver’s Handbook; - Leather covered Lamborghini weekly planner with keys - Countach Spare Parts Catalog; - 1970s Lamborghini Dealer Listings; - Countach Warranty Card; - Countach Information Sheet. I even reproduced some of the pages with text and pictures inside the manuals; some of the text is even legible despite the tiny font. Not an exact copy as I couldn’t find full scanned copies of these documents (and the originals cost hundreds of euros/pounds) but still a nice approximation. 2. Countach LP400/LP500 series came with a tool kit located inside the spare tire insert, not easily reproducible. But I figured, there isn’t such thing as too many tools so I modified a 1/8 scale tool kit (leather pouch with metal tools) found online with Lamborghini logos and some paints and lacquer and came up with a tool kit similar to the one for later models. 3. In the 1970s, there was a line of racing accessories under Walter Wolf brand, and I located a picture of 1978 WW racing sunglasses made in Germany (see below). I found on eBay a rather close approximation (aviator sunglasses) in 1/6 scale, and with some silver paint and a little WW logo I made them look quite close to the originals. At just under an inch wide, they are slightly too big for 1/8 scale but not noticeably so, say for a big-headed fella DaveSea attached the following image(s): Completed Building Walter Wolf's Lamborghini Countach LP 500S, Harley Davidson Fat Boy, Suzuki GSX 1300R Hayabusa, Honda CB750. 4. A while ago I found a very interesting Japanese blog devoted to building this model (I was inspired by some of the mods for my own models) and it had a really nice display of the finished model (see below), so I’ve decided to display my model in a similar way. I found an adjustable tire display rack, the truss assembly and spotlight on Amazon (all coming from Japan later in May, hopefully). The car show crowd barrier in chrome steel can also be found on eBay (e.g. http://www.ebay.com/itm/131563149615) in 1/10 scale but I don’t like it, it’s way too small. The stanchions are abt. 2” tall while they should be more like 5” (and thicker) in scale. So I will make my own stanchions (I found some polished steel rods and disks with holes). I already made the connecting ropes (6 x 12” long each) from a 1/4" red synthetic yarn and cord and with lobster claw clasps from a local bead-making store. I also found some nice looking racing gloves in1/6 scale, close enough. Any other suggestions you may have? Did this car come with a fire extinguisher perhaps?

Finally, this is my version of the information plaque which will accompany the model. It will be abt. 2.5" x 2", on a metal or wooden stand. You're welcome to use it if you like, just scale it down (post the image in a Word file and reduce picture size).
