That looks like a super cool model Daran and I'm looking forward to seeing it painted up and weathered!!

Shame about the lack of a rifle though.

A very good friend of mine is a military vehicle restorer, mainly small stuff, bikes, half tracks etc. (He does all my shot and bead blasting for bikes and stuff). Well a while back he turned up at my work and said to me, "You build scale tanks and stuff don't you?" So I said yes why, expecting him to hand me a kit or something, but instead he gives me a tin of paint. It turns out he was restoring a US vehicle and this was the official Olive Drab paint he was using and had some mixed up left over. Well I was digging through the shed and found it, gave it a stir and stuck it in my air brush!! And here it is, perfect for this build! it has a slight shine to it, but that will soon weather down. Fitted the tyres, they were a real pain to fit, even after a soak in near boiling water!

Well I placed the decal on the bonnet (hood) this morning and it was a total nightmare! In this scale its huge and buckled and wrinkled all over! So I had a brainwave and floated the decal in the sink and then lifted the bonnet from underneath and hey presto, flat decal!! Its a tad off center but I am not going through that again!! lol.
I have also painted all the seat cushions. They should detail up really well to give a used look.

Great thinking with the Decal, I didn't actually notice it was off centre until I read that it was. Once this is all finished and weathered I don't think most people will notice.

Superb work as always Daran, love the authenticity of the paint and the decal looks fine. This is going to be something very cool when you've finished it - well done!!

The base painting is now completed, just the windscreen frame to do. I was not happy with the large decal on the bonnet, so I removed it, made a template and air brushed a new one. I think it looks much better, less plastic. These are pictures of a dry assembly, I will work on the interior and seats individually. Next step is the rest of the decals and the tools, then the weathering and detailing can begin.

Thanks for looking in and your comments everyone. Carl, I will be getting the engine, but its expensive so it may be a while after the build is complete. The good thing is it can be added at anytime.

And the fun begins! This is the part I really enjoy, weathering and detailing, taking something that looks like a toy and turning into a a replica of a real WWII vehicle. Wheels and chassis will be done first. I want it to look used but not beaten to death, how a Jeep should look after its been driven across Europe into Berlin.
Wheels first, basic weathering and detailing are done, dust and muck will be added once they are added to the chassis.
