Hi All The masking of the greenhouse is done and a clearcote added to seal the edges. Next if your following the instructions is to build the engines but because there is a major amount of etch involved I skipped forward to the tail booms and wings. This will let me paint and weather the main airframe as I assemble the engines. The tail booms on the real aircraft were fully open at the rear of the undercarriage wells and you could crawl down them towards the tail but in the kit they have added a bulkhead. I think this is to help stiffen up the tail booms and prevent sagging or twist over time. First off the wheel well is made up and etch added where necessary then the boom sides are added. then more etch is added around the rear of the engine bay area. The wing was next and its a very clever design consisting of a central load bearing stiffener that the wing is built around and this makes a very strong wing that the tail boom is attached too. More etch was added to the wing air intakes and various places on the wings. The last picture gives an idea of the size of this beast when finished. More soon. Hi All More progress, the second wing was made up including the 4 light clusters [only one on the other lower wing] then the two wings were added to the fuselage along with the central rear elevator tailplane. Adding this certainly made the whole aircraft a very strong assembly. The metal undercarriages were next made up and the etch brake pipes/panels detail added, you can also see the detail on the weighted resin tyre set. There are four drop tanks included these were made up and the etch panels and filler caps added. Now to start painting the fuselage starting with a coat of Alclad aircraft aluminium after the internal parts and the greenhouse have had a coat of interior green. Painting the canopy's green first will enable you to see then being painted green as they were on the inside of the aircraft. More soon.
