Hi most resin sets come with the casting blocks that yours has and the need to be removed by either sanding or cutting most of it off with a razor saw and then sanding back to the base edge of the cast part.

I was once told they leave the block in place for strength to keep the part from warping and also its for any air bubbles in the resin to rise up into so the part has none. Not that it always works.
Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Gray,

Can't tell from your photos if you've sawn/sanded your resin parts in a wet or dry fashion, but it's a good idea to keep an 'atomiser' bottle containing some water close by and periodically spray the work area/parts with water to keep it all damped down, as resin dust is not the nicest thing to breathe in and is known to be carcinogenic? It's also worthwhile wearing a mask as an extra precaution whilst working with resin dust, and clean up the work area in a wet state afterwards with a good wipe down of both the workspace and a soapy wash of the parts.

Apologies if you were already aware, just thought I'd mention it to be safe? Cool ThumpUp

Loving the detail on this etch Love Love Love
Can't imagine trying to fold the nose leg buffer without my new toy Cool. I will leave the etch to completely dry before folding it into the wheel well.
Hope you enjoy the photos.

Thanks for looking in and your comments Alan, always welcome.
By the way, for those eagle-eyed amonst you...those little white dots are the residue from Ultimate Photo-etch Placer Sticks. Saw them being used on Jase's Mikasu build Love. Thanks for that tip Jase, they are a marvel Cool

Small update on my build. I have been creating the front and main wheel bays with the etch. All i can say is it's a good job i bought the etch bending tool, as i couldn't have freehanded the small bends needed without it!
There is more to add to the main wheel bays, but need a clamp, so will show that later.
Anyways, i hope you like....

Thanks Alan and Jase for looking in and your comments. On the whole I am enjoying the experience (my first time using it), but I can see why it would be classed as a marmite moment 🤨. You either love or loathe working with it. My advice to anyone thinking about using it for the first time is to try it for themselves.

Gray

Thanks Tom & Ian for looking in and your comments. Greatly appreciated. Cool
Today's update is more of the same with the etch. Sorry, it's proving slow going, but hopefully i can get on to the main build soon.

Great job with the PE, it's definitely worth taking the time to get right, start rushing and it all goes to pot - I speak from experience.

Hi Graeme,
I know EXACTLY what you mean BigGrin. the big decision is deciding which bit of which kit (resin or etch) to use as some parts are duplicated. Hopefully tomorrow i can finally get the pilots painted!
