Thanks chaps.

Yes, I've added the weld seam around the rear as it is there on the real cars.
I've also drilled the bumper mounting holes as these should also be here.
However, it was actually ground off and smoothed on the real Number 23 car but I like the added detail, so now it's there.

Engine parts have been cast in resin to make the detail more accurate so I made my own masters using parts of them and now always cast my own resin XK engines.

A few parts assembled and painted.
No oil filler on the passenger side cam cover as this car was dry sump.

E Types had different colour cylinder heads for different types.
Road cars were gold, lightweight were silver.
Occasionally you see restored cars with red, light green and even orange cylinder heads although technically, those colours were only used on prototype test heads or on C and D Types.

Roy

I'm sure you've read everything there is on E-Types, but incase you missed this link some nice pictures of the "new" lightweight.

And as always another great update.

Rich.

Many thanks Rich.

I've been looking at roadster body shells and I'm not quite happy with mine.
The inner rear bulkhead is wrong, mainly because I tried to adapt part of the kit rear floor.

The inner rear has been cut back out again so That I can make a better part.

Thanks chaps.

I've now got the rear inner bulkhead pretty much how I want it.
Parts only taped together so I can trial fit and tweak...
Better than the rear wall I had before.

This afternoon's efforts.

Hard top formed along with the front and rear screens but obviously they will need a lot of trimming and fettling.

They won't be fitted for quite a while yet.

Get one.... Plastic is easier to alter.

Now the rear wall is sorted although there are a few gaps to fill, I can make a start on the engine frame.

The main frame for the engine has been made and fitted.
Brass section but using the kit front 'picture frame' as it's very accurate so why bin it?

All now fitted to the firewall with plenty of epoxy.

A LOT more framework still to make.

Hello Phil.

I made the roof/screen masters and a good friend has a vac form machine that he lets me use when I need to. He's in the plastics business so I only use it very sparingly as I don't want to take advantage.

I've been contemplating getting my own but they are mega-bucks for one that will cope with the stuff needed for 1/8 scale cars.
At the mo, totally skint.

Thanks chaps...

I've been beavering away today...
Anyone who knows me, once I get my teeth into a build, I just can't stop.
My wife will be telling me to come to bed at midnight - I might 'hit the pit' at about 1.30 am...

Half of the engine frame is in.
Only half, as frustratingly I've run out of brass tube and plastic section... Grrrrr.

A bit more done on the engine and I've plonked it inside the frame just to have a peep.

Rear wheel arches now shaped and some gaps filled.

I think I'm becoming an E Type fanatic.
Each time I get a model to the point of the last pic, I really want to just leave it there.
For me, there's just something 'pure' about the E Type main shell...

I sometimes wonder myself Phil. lol.

A bit more today.
The kind of stuff that doesn't look much, but takes ages.

Assorted parts added to the engine, and the front frame finished.

The whole body now has a ton of white primer. When it's fully dry, the sanding will begin, leading to a few base coats of the actual body colour.
