Next job was to make the water-tight bulkhead door that connects this space to the Control Room. Fairly simple to make; i used a compass cutter to produce the acetal disc and then added the hinge and handle boss from acetal rod and the handle from 0.7mm diameter solder. The final jobs included the fitting of the water-tight bulkhead door, making an array of junction boxes that are wired into the electrical cabinet and finally adding the LED lighting. The attached photo shows a curtain made from thin cotton jersey fitted onto a rail behind the shroud, giving the CO's cabin a bit of privacy. I also fitted a section of treadplate. The next step was to make the dividing bulkhead and access doors to the W/T shack and Sonar shack. I also painted the floor of these two areas in matt green. I glued the doors in the ajar position. The reverse side of this dividing bulkhead has a walnut veneer backing to reduce light bleed. Good evening from 'The Dockyard'. First of all i just want to say how proud i am for having my 1/48 scale U-boat highlighted as a 'notable build'. Brilliant! This just spurs me on to keep posting regular content on this build and any future builds. So, after a nice relaxing week off it was time to crack on with this model. First job was to make a couple of stools for the two watchkeepers to sit on. I bought, quite a while ago, a pair of O gauge stools, but i didn't like the legs supplied. So i added my own made from toothpicks! I could also adjust the height to suit the watchkeepers too.  The stools aren't finished at this stage and will be covered in leatherette when done.
