I then fitted out the worktops for the Wireless Transmission [W/T] shack. The height is made up of short lengths of 4mm square section acetal, giving a height of approximately 2 feet in real life when stacked giving a model height of 12mm. This is about right, as i measured the height of my knee when sat down, so know the proportions are about there. The tops were painted green and the edges lined with mahogany veneer. The deck at this stage looks a little scuffed while i fitted out the access doors, but i'm going to leave it as is, thinking that the watchkeepers stools would of worn it like that. The W/T shack is fitted with all manner of amplifiers, transmitters and receivers. The first item i made is a morse code translator, i believe. Acetal sheet of varied thickness was glued together to give the profile and the knobs were made of 1.6mm and 1.0mm diameter acetal rod, cut to length, painted matt black, glued in place and their tops painted either red or yellow. The bearing indicator was made from 0.25mm thick acetal sheet using a compass cutter and the edges and dial indicator drawn on free hand. I then made 3 sets of headphones. Using 2.0mm diameter acetal rod, i cut 6 discs, painted them black and joined them together via a small length of 0.7mm diameter solder. I test fitted each set on to the head of a watchkeeper, so i know the proportions are about right. More amazing work from you Phil (though I never expect anything less from you), always brilliant! Some of those scratchbuilt pieces are tiny, so well done you for persevering with all of those little details, they really do make a difference to the finished build!

I love all the scratch built instruments Phil - lovely work and it takes me back to many happy hours playing Silent Hunter 3 on the pc, I remember all those instruments from the various watch stations which I always seemed to end up in after pushing the wrong key whilst being depth charged (well, anyone can panic!  ) Great work as always!
