Looking good David - Like the bench extesion !!! Certainly needed with this model You'll be pleased to know that once you add the parts from Issue 8 things get a lot stronger. You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Thanks riff-raff, it does look decidedly 'flimsy' at the moment so it will be good to get some strengthening parts, I'd hate to have to turn it over as it is at the moment. I assume that's what the slots are for on the transverse frames. Happy building David

Hi Andy Thanks for the links. Might be worth looking at as a model to try some 'weathering' on before attempting same on the 'big' build Happy building David

BUILD UPDATE 6:1
Personal thoughts on way forward with this build. Since 4 weeks seems like an age to me with nothing to do on this build, I've decided that to keep myself more occupied with it, instead of completing the monthly subscription all at once, I will continue the build as though I'm only getting 1 issue per week. Although this may seem like a trivial decision, it will give me something to do each week rather than getting it all done in 1 week and sitting on my hands for the next 3 weeks whilst I wait for the next delivery. Happy building David

Hi David A nice idea, not sure I would have the will power. Luckily I've got the D51, Zero and victory on the go as well so always something to do. Graeme

For some half decent figures been looking at these which could possible be adapted as the figures are in fatigues in most cases so may be suitable. 121469562076 this is an eBay item number you can search against Happy Modelling

Hi David I found the following document on German U-Boat colour schemes. http://amp.rokket.biz/do...lours_with_photos_5.pdf
Towards the bottom of the document are links a German site giving a detailed listing of interior colours, one for 1940 and one for 1944. The pages are in German but I just right clicked on the page and selected 'translate' and got a good translation of the page. It lists both the primer used for various areas/equipment as well as the top coat. Thought it may be of interest to you. Graeme

Thanks Graeme, That really is a help to me. I haven't read it all through yet but the wealth of information contained in the folder is amazing. I think I'll print it out so I can read it thoroughly from the comfort of my armchair. The Google translate has done a good job of the 2 pages pertaining to the interior colours and I'll have to do a little work cross referencing the RAL numbers so as to get a 'real' colour to work with. A good piece of research Graeme and well worth the effort you put in to find it. Happy building David

BUILD UPDATE #7
Parts 8, 9, 10 and 11 arrived today. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I am going to attempt to spread this consignment and future consignments over the month: this might take more than a little will power on my part so we'll have to see how we get on. More to follow later this evening. Happy building David

BUILD UPDATE #7:1
This weeks instalment (issue #8)of the U 96 build consisted of fitting the longitudinal beams to the slots provided in the transverse beams on the right hand side of the hull. All went well with the parts having a nice tight fit with minimal adjustment, and they have gone some way to making the already assembled parts more rigid. Hi again Does anyone here know of any reason why my images that are posted to the forum keep getting duplicated? It's happened several times now and I'm at a loss as to how to remedy this problem. I'm aware that this could be quite distracting for any of us viewing the page, and there doesn't seem to be a way of deleting them. I would appreciate any advice anyone can offer to help solve this problem for me. Thanks in advance and happy building David

Hi David, are you posting pics direct onto the forum or are you using photobucket or something similar.... What are you using to upload pics, PC, Tablet or mobile phone.... .. Did you mean to upload just 2 pics on your last post or 4 pics??? Not saying I have the answer but there are a multitude of different ways to upload pics so it may help if you describe what you are doing.... Lots of questions I know but hopefully we can find an answer for you..... Regards Alan

Thanks for responding Gandale. I am uploading to the forum direct from my pictures folder via my desktop PC. I follow the steps whereby after I've typed my text in the main box, I tick the 'attach files to this post' box and click 'post'. Then a new pane opens where I can browse for the images I want to include, upload them, then click the 'back' button, which returns me to the text pane. Then I use the 'back' arrow on my browser to return to the main forum page, but when I open my latest post, I keep finding that the images have been duplicated. I'm obviously doing something incorrectly but it's the system I've used for my previous diary posts (Arab Dhow) and they uploaded with no problem. I know it's not a disaster but I like to get it right and my fingers are now full of splinters from scratching my head over the problem Hope this helps you Alan. Thanks and happy building David

Hi David, certainly sounds as if you are doing things correctly but I would refrain from using the back arrow on your browser and stick to clicking on the heading of the forum section you wish to go to.... When you click on the upload button take care you only click on it once and not inadvertently double click, depending on the size of the file will depend on how long it takes to upload... Before clicking on the back button, check the files names uploaded and delete any that may show have been uploaded twice..... Lastly for now, try using a different browser and see if the problem persists..... If you still have problems let me know and I'll play around and see what I can find... Wrote this guide a while back now for PC users, you may have seen it before but in case you haven't link is below... http://forum.model-space....aspx?g=posts&t=244
Hope this helps.. Regards Alan

Thanks and happy building David Hi David, From what you have described it could be your browser. I dont know which one you are using, but have you tried Google Chrome? It's a tabbed browser which means you can have multiple pages open at the same time, which means you don't have click the back space button. Hope this helps. Regards

@Gandale: Thanks for the link to your tutorial - most useful, thank you. A good idea of yours to check for duplication of files before posting, I hadn't been doing that and it could be the answer. @Silent Running: I use Mozilla Firefox (always up to date with the latest version), and I keep all my tabs open, so it would be easier to use your suggestion and just click back to the forum tab rather than using the 'back' arrow. Thank you. I have tried Google Chrome and it does seem to be faster (maybe due to the lack of ads and media 'stuff' normally associated with a browser) but I keep falling back to Firefox because I lack the persistence to go through all the 'nuts and bolts' of making it work as I would like it to. Thanks again and my next post will be in a week with issue #9, so we'll see what happens then Happy building David
