Thanks very much for you comments Samson much appreciated.BigGrin

But I have to note that I made some mistakes that I will have to rectify,Blushing
I put a line of nails by accident on pic 1 and 2 from the left row 8 at the center that should not be there and row 5 at the top from the left is crooked and the tenth board from the top after the cargo hold hole has been done as a 4 butt not a 3 butt and some of the short boards from the left have no nail holes the 1st 3rd & 5th boards from the bottom rear are missing nail holes and boards 1 & 3 at the rear top are also missing nail hols as well so if you are doing this take care and take photos and go over them with great care 2 or three times.BigGrin BigGrin

I will have to make some sawdust mix and fill in the holes to hide the marks and then redo them properly.

If anyone is interested I make it into a paste 1 part PVA wood glue to 1-2-3 parts sawdust of the same variety of wood I am using.

Now depending on how dry I need the mix or how thin a coat i need. The rule of thump is the deeper or wider the gap the thicker or drier the mix needs to be if that helps anyone who wants to make and use it, it has may uses and is a trick of the trade to us cabinetmakers.BigGrin

I used this mix in my SOTS build on the small Launch which is here.

Eugene.

Hi Eugene. BigGrin

Popped in to see what you're up to with this build. BigGrin

It's all looking very professional mate. Cool Cool

Regarding your sawdust and PVA fill. I used it myself early in the build when a clamp caused a depression. Good thing is once dry it sands down very smooth and better than filler in larger requirements. Cool Cool

Keep up the great work. Will look in again as you progress. BigGrin

Regards

George

I have started on the infills and opted for a easy layer on layer of 8x15mm lengths stacked up inside the cavities cut from 8x75x915 sheets of balsa wood.
I used my balsa stripper to cut the lengths at this rate it will take me about 2 lengths of the 8x75x915 sheets per side and at AUD$6.00 per sheet that is not bad AUD$24.00 for the whole ship to be done.

I got sick of gluing and cutting so I decided to do some shaping instead just to break up the monotony.BigGrin BigGrin

As you can see from all of the shavings I did most of the work in about 1/2 hr with the razor plane it makes short of allot of work then I used a rasp file flat/round and then a fine file Flat/Round and then finished off with some sanding and will need a few little fills here and there but fine.BigGrin

Now to try and clean up the mess before the wife sees it.BigGrin BigGrin
