Thanks again for looking in everyone I have now fitted the exhaust sprayed hull red with a bit a dark grey overspray at the ends. The body is sprayed but not fitted yet, I put the decals on while its still glossy. The bodywork on this needs to be half gloss and half matt - the engine covers are going to be polished up gloss but the main body is in reality covered in a fabric of some kind so I will be matt coating this until there is a noticeable difference between this and the engine covers - BTW the engine covers and main body are exactly the same colour - they just dont look it on the pics! Seats are currently work in progress, trying to get the right shade of green for them. I have also added some more chrome bits, the wheel centers and 2 of the filler caps, these will be oil washed then polished later. Just a couple of pics for now, more later stevie_o attached the following image(s):

You get an idea of what a beast it was with the body on its half engine so much power. My boss has a Bentley and when he has it serviced at Gt Barfield I have to follow him to bring him back. The place he takes it to is one of the only places in England to be certified by rolls royce and Bentley to do restoration work and they have several of this type there under various states of restoration. I was allowed into the workshop to see some of them last time I took him it was a lovely sight. They have quite a few restored rolls for sale if I won the lottery I would be over there in a second they are quite cheap £64.000-£150.000 all pre 1950s gorgeous cars. Last time they went to Ascot I had the privilege of driving the Bentley, I have to say exciting as it was I was scared s';@less encase I damaged it somehow. Ken's the name modeling's the game.

Really well done Steve and some fantastic work going on there. I can't wait to see the rest! We could do with a part work of something like this being brought to Model Space couldn't we? What do you think Mr T?

Thanks again guys all comments are greatly appreciated. Think Im on the home stretch with this one now, apart from a small problem. One of the mudguards is missing, a lot of parts were off their sprues when I started it but there was a tear in one of the bags also and the box was un-sealed when bought so I think its lost. I have seen these without the guards though so perhaps it will look ok Seats are done to try to replicate the green leather used. First sprayed with a green / yellow mix then glossed them, next I used a sepia wash then some white pastels then a satin cote. I have also matt coated the main body to replicate the fabric covering, think it looks ok, you can certainly see the difference between the gloss engine cover anyway. The instruments are done, the decals are the reverse type and placed on the back of the clear clocks, I added a little gold detailing and a black/ brown oil outline wash. the right engine cover shown is not glued yet, just there for show, the left side will be folded up I think to show the engine. Thats it for now, a couple more days and this ones done apart from a figure and base Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Well you've certainly done your homework on this one. I would never known that the body was a fabric covering. Just think the seats look spot on for the leather effect you were after -very well done indeed. A really pain about your missing mudguard. I would suggest airfix spares to try and source one as it's a model still in their catalogue. That said I have emailed via their spares link and customer services about the damaged canopy in my typhoon kit and not had a single reply. Not to their credit in my view. Means I now have to phone them next week. Very well done again. Happy Modelling

Thanks Tony, I actually dont mind the look of it without the mudguards and I thought Id seen a pic of one of these without them but do you think I can find it now? The fabric bodywork was a kind of of thin canvas or leather, you can see it clearly here although not the same car but same body - https://www.flickr.com/photos/28439790@N03/7098169319/Will have a think about trying to get a new one though Thanks for looking Steve

A belated thanks to KP & Alan Plan to finish this soon but first I thought Id show you this chap I found in a 1/12 scale dolls house, I may still buy one depending on what outcome I get from this post. Firstly, he looks too short, but in reality he "should" be ok. He measures 5.25 inches so at a scale of 1/12 he would be a 5'3" man, which, although short is perfectly believable. I bet he would look fine next to a Jag though. So why does he look so small, possibly as the Bentley was such a big car anyway so a small man would look even smaller next to one of these. Most 1/12 figures are 6 inches tall to depict a 6 foot man so I may still end up buying one. Or...I could chop this one up and add some inserts with filler to get another cm maybe? Please dont worry about his "thousand yard stare" I do plan to prime and repaint him Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):

He looks fine to me and your right about the size of the car as for the stare thats a defo 'And now he wants me to go racing in that death trap ' look of fear and trepidation. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
