Thanks Malc. It's a fun project. OK - exhaust section. This is probably the poorest part of the kit. Everything else is well engineered and very detailed. The exhaust parts are like something from an old Airfix kit. The bits meet where they touch, gaps, poor seams and horrible great big fixing screw holes. I used cyano glue on all joins as well as the screws, and clamped the areas where the parts didn't quite meet. Next, the screw holes were filled with bits of sprue glued in. These bits were filed down and along with all the seams and joins, filler was added where needed and then sanded back. I wasn't worried about spoiling the paint as it's some silly bright copper colour and I haven't seen any pics of real Ducs with shiny copper exhausts so it's all being repainted anyway. The fixing springs will be added - missing from the kit. The tiny brackets were made from paper clip wire, glued in place and weld lines added with a stained glass window pen. Further welds were added at the 'tee' joint and around the manifold flanges, as per real Duc's. The whole caboodle was primed and then sprayed a mix of champagne gold, ally, and magnesium. All the different areas of toning were done freehand just using rattle cans. I think I'm going to put this kit to bed when the exhaust is sorted and get on with my big C Type for a while... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Well its been said before but you certainly know your stuff Roy. That looks like some major work you are putting in but it does make a difference. I always thought these producers models were the most detailed ever but you have surprised me with just how many bits you are having to add yourself. Hope it all continues to go well. Happy Modelling

Hello Tony. Many thanks for the kind sentiments but really, I just stick plastic like the rest of us. The exhaust is now sorted and fitted. The mufflers needed join lines filling, sanding and eventually repainting. They were fitted with little bother, as was the exhaust assembly. All credit to Pocher engineering. A serious problem though, is that the lump is now very precarious however you stand it up. Padded mat will be coming out... Annoyingly, I want to leave the Duc for a while but it's just so ruddy enticing!!! roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Seen that one, many thanks. I don't want mine quite so 'grubby' but it's a great build. I'm leaving mine alone for a little while as I don't want to finish it too soon...
I'll be digging in my stash tomorrow for a 'fill-in' build.
Roy.

Well, 10 days since I touched the big Duc. I've scratched the exhaust oxygen sensors and added them, fiddled about with the airbox, filter and front upper forks. Everything went together as it should although the two airbox halves needed a fair bit of filing flat along the mating faces to get the parts together without any gaps. Worth the effort. Ive test-fitted the assembly to the engine but it isn't fixed yet. More wiring and added gubbins first... Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Many thanks for looking in Dennis and Tony. I have to say I'm enjoying this kit immensely. It really does make a change from all the work involved in a 'scratch build' - which I do enjoy. On that tack, I've got to admit to a purchase I never thought I'd go for. I've ordered the Pocher Hurracan which is on the way, in yellow... I've already built the Aventador and was actually disappointed when Pocher announced the Hurracan. Just too similar. Now, building the 'Big Duc' - I was sold. Anyway - radiators are built although I ditched the 'screw' method and glued the parts together, then filled the horrible screw holes all over the place that would have shown everywhere. Lots of wiring has been added and the rad assembly has now been fitted. This thing is a MONSTER. It's also now very awkward to handle and work on. The only way it will stand is upside down. There's a ton of extra detailing - which is fun. It's quite surprising just how much wiring, relays and pipework Pocher have left off the kit. Anyway... Front wheel assembled. The tyre needed heavy sanding on the tread area but it went onto the rim quite easily despite the 'rumours' it's difficult. The pics make the tread look quite grey, but in reality, it isn't. Camera's don't get it right all of the time. Front forks built up and fitted to the wheel/axle. The brake discs - don't even go there!!! A total PITA to build. They really are made up using rivets, washers and circlips! However, once done, they look great. The forks are fitted and the whole lot test fitted. Whatever anyone else may say, you can't fault Pocher on their engineering. EVERYTHING fits exactly as it should. Brake calipers and loads of other stuff still to go. If you're tempted, BUY this kit. You'll love it. The last pic show the kit so far, with a 1/43 model next to it to give an idea of size. Pics just don't show it but this thing is ENORMOUS! roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Superb work Roy (As usual) it dose look huge, I put a 1/12 a1/8 and a 1/6 together and was amazed at the difference of them (I even posted the pic somewhere) but 1/6 is the largest I've built and that was big so this must be enormous, all I can say is I can't wait till October. Ken's the name modeling's the game.

Roy I sm always tempted but the meagre pay rise we were awarded this year the company has decided they cannot pay until august at the earliest back dated to january but the top union we have fighting our corner have arranged a part payment in june that the company will recover in august. So at the end of the day my bit of extra is a bit like a wilo the wisp and as much as i would love one of those car kits having seen them made up in the hornby outlet store i will for now have to contend myself with your build which i really look forward too. Hope it all continues well for you Happy Modelling
