It is a strange way of getting the parts built but i guess they have gone through and thought this gives the best build option.

Sure it will look just fine once you get some more bits to add.

Instead of putting up vertical walls around the forward upper deck structure like normal people we begin to install a number of suspended ceilings to build up the structure.

I can only guess the German engineers are mightily drunk and fear the sky dropping down on their heads.

On the other hand so does a vertical wall

In my opinion the only effect of horizontally layered ceilings is enlarging the potential that the surface will be "off" by a bit. Layer 1 and layer 4 may be sitting correctly, but layer 3 is half a millimeter short while layer 2 is half a millimeter too long/wide. Not an actual problem I have confirmed yet, but the potential is there.

Must agree that is a very good point.

I was looking at my bismarck kit at the weekend and that works on a vertical wall basis so it is a strange way of doing things in your kit.

I thought it might be to save on wood but i guess you have more wood in that assemble than if they had been straight sides.

What i was tring to get across was the fact they could have just provided a top and bottom section without anything in the middle. Maybe that is how they started and decided they needed s ome more infill bits to hold sll that brass onto

Still your motoring on very well with it and its going to be a very nice model when complete.

We stick yet another roof onto our layercake of roofs. We also build a couple of side roofs to stick into the recesses because there's an obvious lack of roofs there.

I realize this is incredibly boring being stuck at doing minute and invisible things to the forward deck structure week after week. Luckily next week is the last one to deal with this particular section for a while.

Progressing very nicely, all looks great....

We finally finish working on the foreward deck superstructure by sticking in the little "side roofs" we built last week and extending the forward platform with some small bits.

We're reached the 15% point in this build so I guess it's time for another look at the whole thing so far.

Looks quite cool sat there without any skin on its bones regards Phil

I wish I knew. I can look ahead to issue 27 so far and no planking yet. It's obvious they're shuffling things around to try and get the planking done as late as possible.
