Well you have certainly set yourself a task with all the additions but don't they ever look good. Would have been nice to have collected this one to follow along with a master builder. On my own i would have no idea about all these extras. Happy Modelling

You're too kind Tony. It's just plastic-bashing (ok - a bit 'OCD'...) I've painted the front mud shields (after removing the large mould seams) as they are in reality part of the bodywork and should be the same colour. I've also made my own battery and that has been fitted to the relevant panel. There's some detailing to do on the panels before they are fitted. I've also now made the brake master cylinder mechanism and it's in place. Two of the brake pipes have been added but there should be another four. Two come from the front fittings but in fact I won't add them as they will be invisible eventually, and almost impossible to add when the engine is in place. The other two pipes go to the fluid reservoirs so will be added when the engine/bulkhead is fixed together. In the meantime, I've removed the fuel filter to repaint, and I'm also going to add my own fuel lines. The kit actually has them back to front. The line from the fuel tank should be on the left, and to the carbs, on the right. The kit has them the other way round... Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thanks Al. Last update today... All of the wiring has been attached to the frame and joined up. It will eventually be attached to the voltage regulator. Also, brake and clutch pipes added to the fluid reservoirs. Still a bit more to add. As yet, the fuel filter and carbs aren't connected... Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Just looking at this again and i think one of the things thatvreally makes it stand out are all the placards and markings you have used - really very good. Especially like the "made in england" one. Happy Modelling

Thanks Tony. The 'Made in England' plate really was on the cars in this position. Mind you, now that I look, I see I've missed the little fixing rivets - now attended to. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Many thanks everyone. I think the engine area is pretty much sorted now - unless I think of something else... Fuel filter connected, splash panels are now matt black with the body areas in green. Voltage regulator wired up and in place, battery in and connected. Time to put this lump to one side and see what's next... Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Roy. I never doubted it was there Roy - just blown away by your knowledge that it was I was just making the comment that such fine detail is amazing - you certainly know your cars inside out. What did strike me though looking at your pictures is just what a massive difference it makes having all those placards in place - really does make it look so real. Must admit its a real treat to see you do this one because you use (if you do not mind me saying) such basic items like wire, plastic rod, and the like to turn out such detailed parts. Just shows if you know what you are doing you do not have to spend loads of money on aftermarket bits and pieces. Hope it all continues well for you. Happy Modelling

Thanks Tony.
I do enjoy tweaking models and adding bits and maybe I'm just a tightwad - why spend extra money on bits if you can make them yourself? I tend to hoard and keep everything left over from models, bits of kitchen packaging, odds and ends from anywhere really. You never know what or if it might be useful. Even my wife asks me if I want 'this or that' when she has anything about to hit the bin...
Roy.

Roy. And it pays off because you turn those "scraps" into really good detail parts. Happy Modelling

A few people have asked about the detail I added on the voltage regulator... The kit part was painted ally and a waterslide decal put on the front face. I've posted the art for the decal below if anyone wants to do the same. Print it in black/white, on clear decal film. That way, the ally paint shows through and only the black text and shading shows on the surface. The decal needs to be 13mm x 8mm. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thats a very generous offer Roy. I am sure you will have a number of people interrsted in getting one of these to add to their model. Makes such a massive difference seeing the markings on the various parts. Happy Modelling

Hello Roy, i love the work you are doing on the E type. Im very interested in the decals, could I buy a set. Also I'm very interested in the work you are doing on the brake pipe setup. I should like to copy what you have done.
I have built the DB5 and included brake lines but Ive never found how they terminate onto the calipers. I bought some model boat stanchions that make very good "banjoes" but not sure they are correct.
I should like to hear from you if you get the time.
Regards Tony Allen

Well, while awaiting the next batch of parts I thought I'd get on with the other seat. I've cast my own in resin and have covered them in tan leather to match the rest of the interior, which will also get the leather trimming treatment as per the door panels.
