Continuing along the starboard side, i made the final panel, but found i couldn't hold the piece in place. To get round this problem i decided to fit a temporary rod to the centre so i could better position the panel before gluing. The attached photo shows the hole for the rod drilled out. In addition to fitting a temporary rod to the panel i also made and fitted a support piece, glued to the back of the previous panel to aid correct alignment. The next step was to add an edging strip around the base. Due to the nature of the curves i had to make this edging strip in several sections for it all to align. I used 3.2mm wide x 0.5mm thick plastic strip for this job. The attached photo shows a length of plastic strip, bent into a vee-shape, cut and being checked for fit.
