Fabulous work Trev, love all those different chests and their contents, they really add to the interest in your cross section build and some great scratchbuilding skills on show here. Always love a bit of scratchbuilding - well done mate they look excellent!!  
Will you be having a few 'Jolly Jack Tars' on the different deck levels Trev?

Hi Kev, Thank you for having a look at my build, well I cannot resist a bit of scratch building and I will be having a few jolly jacks at different levels, watch out for the cup's. Kev am I correct in thinking that the meal plates were wooden and square so they didn't roll away? and is that were the saying (a square meal)came from ! Regards Trev. I'm no great expert on ships and ship modelling as it's not my genre (like watching your builds though I must say! ) but I have heard that story before, so just to see if it was correct I typed "Origin of a Square Meal" into my search engine and it came up with several explanations including this one:

There are some great pictures on there of the square plates which had hollowed middles and sometimes a smaller hollow in one corner for holding salt? Should be a useful reference for you when you make some for your ship? I've also read somewhere that these square plates were often referred to as 'trenchers' and sometimes 'boards' which apparently is where the phrase "bed and board" comes from, meaning if you stayed at an inn you would get a bed and a square meal?

Hi Trev, Great stuff as always, especially the scratch built chests. Don`t know about the square meal thing, but another term I`ve heard and not sure how true it is, is the brass plate that cannon balls used to sit on was called a "brass monkey" and when they sailed into really cold climates the brass monkey would flex and the cannon balls would roll off. Hence the term "Freeze the balls off a brass monkey". Thing is I`ve never heard anyone mention anything about a "Brass Monkey" in regard ship parts. Derek, Thanks, I don't know what you think but since I have been building the Victory I have learnt so much about ships of that period, and with the magazine that came with it sure is value for money, but as yet I haven't seen anything about terms or sayings except ( brass monkeys ) Regards Trev. UPDATE: VICTORY CROSS SECTION. 150315 SEAMENS CHESTS: Today I have scratch built two seamans chests to support the rest on the Orlop deck, I have made them a bit different from the others as by looks. How did I make them. First a strip of 10mm x 2mm then I marked two horizontal lines across to represent planks, then I cut a base 13x8 mm. Then I cut two pieces each the same length as the end of the base trying to keep as square as I possible, as at this point small parts can be difficult. Then I cut two more strips the total length of the base and glued all parts together. I decided to make these two boxes with curved tops so I added a few strips of spare wood to the top of the boxes and then sanded the tops and ends into a radius, I then added light oak bees wax as a finish.      http://i1134.photobucket...ss-section/DSC_6531.jpg

Fabulous work Malc, a proper little 'treasure trove' of skills being shown here and I love the little boxes containing the spare rigging blocks and the one with the belaying pins in it - great stuff!!
