Hi Alan,

That looks mentalLOL LOL

I do not think I will be able to look at cocktails sausages and cheese cubes with pineapple the same againLOL

Was thinking of having a go with treenailing, Nigel's filler and fine sanding looks a more sane approach.Laugh

Well done, as the saying goes, you reap what you sow.

Alan that looks absolutely insane, and love the comments that follow. On a serious side that is one huge amount of work and time and I think the effect is going to be awesome. Awesome job and well done. going to need to look for a cocktail stick provider, no, not used ones!!

Well tonight the POTS finally got the scalping it deserved so can now once again be classed as the SOTS.... LOL LOL LOL .. Obviously still more treenailing on the upper hull to be done but can't do that until after I have dry fitted the gallery and planked the area around it.. Cool Cool .. Tomorrow will get down to the business of gently sanding it down to hopefully give it the subtle look I am after.... Cool Cool .. Once that's done will move onto tidying up the stern area in preparation of starting the second planking layer of the lower hull..all to be done in walnut.....BigGrin BigGrin ...

Alan

Hi Alan.

That's a really beautiful looking effect and will be well worth all the effort I think!
That would look brilliant on a Viking Longship (Got any more builds lined up? hint hint!)BigGrin

Hi Robin, thanks for the kind words of encouragement.... Think you must have been reading my mind as I have just this minute subscribed now to the Santísima Trinidad.... BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin .. Call me mad but I am looking to retire in the not too distant future so am building up a collection of builds to store so when retirement is finally upon me then at least I can continue my hobby even if a drop in income restricts my ability to purchase these wonderful kits..... BigGrin BigGrin

Thanks again

Hi Alan
The treenailing is gonna look brill when you give it a light sand.A word of advice, try and keep away from the bottom edge of the upper planking when sanding as you can end up digging in a little on this edge.It might be an idea to leave the bottom row or two proud until you get some lower planking on.I tell my wife I am building a stash for retirement despite having at least 20 years to goLOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
Kind Regards Nigel

Thanks for the nice comments Nigel, appreciated... Have now given everything a fine sand and was exceptionally careful along the bottom edge of the planks... thanks for the tip as it was something I hadn't thought about.... Have also cleaned everything off with a little white spirit and now waiting for it to dry.... Cool Cool .. Think I am going to be very pleased with the results when it gets a coat of matt varnish... Cool Cool .. Thanks again for looking in...

Alan

Hi Hans, think I agree with you, she will look very nice indeed with some subtle treenailing... Cool Cool .. Thought about applying just danish oil but think I am more inclined to go with a coat of matt varnish when the time comes.... BigGrin BigGrin .. Tomorrow going to tidy up the stern section and then look at starting on the lower hull with walnut strips.... Cool Cool .. Thanks for looking in and your very nice comments...

Looking mighty fine AlanBigGrin BigGrin BigGrin great job!Only thing with oil,may cause problems later in the build when trying to glue things to the hull,at least you can scrape varnish off where bonding.
Kind Regards Nigel
