Hi Alan, That looks mental I do not think I will be able to look at cocktails sausages and cheese cubes with pineapple the same again Was thinking of having a go with treenailing, Nigel's filler and fine sanding looks a more sane approach. Well done, as the saying goes, you reap what you sow. Regards Claret Also working on: SOTS. Moebius 1/32 Flying Sub with PE & lights.
Waiting in the wings: Polarlights Spindrift from Land of the Giants.
finished: 007 Iconic DB5.

Alan that looks absolutely insane, and love the comments that follow. On a serious side that is one huge amount of work and time and I think the effect is going to be awesome. Awesome job and well done. going to need to look for a cocktail stick provider, no, not used ones!! Well tonight the POTS finally got the scalping it deserved so can now once again be classed as the SOTS.... .. Obviously still more treenailing on the upper hull to be done but can't do that until after I have dry fitted the gallery and planked the area around it.. .. Tomorrow will get down to the business of gently sanding it down to hopefully give it the subtle look I am after.... .. Once that's done will move onto tidying up the stern area in preparation of starting the second planking layer of the lower hull..all to be done in walnut..... ... Hi Alan. That's a really beautiful looking effect and will be well worth all the effort I think! That would look brilliant on a Viking Longship (Got any more builds lined up? hint hint!) Robin First wooden ship: The Grimsby 12 Gun 'Frigate' by Constructo Second: Bounty DelPrado Part Works Third: HMS Victory DelPrado Part Works 1/100 scale Diorama of the Battle of the Brandywine from the American Revolutionary War Diorama of the Battle of New Falkland (unfinished sci-fi), Great War Centenary Diorama of the Messines Ridge Assault Index for the Victory diary is on page 1

Think you must have been reading my mind as I have just this minute subscribed now to the Santísima Trinidad.... .. Call me mad but I am looking to retire in the not too distant future so am building up a collection of builds to store so when retirement is finally upon me then at least I can continue my hobby even if a drop in income restricts my ability to purchase these wonderful kits..... Thanks again Regards Alan

Thanks for the nice comments Nigel, appreciated... Have now given everything a fine sand and was exceptionally careful along the bottom edge of the planks... thanks for the tip as it was something I hadn't thought about.... Have also cleaned everything off with a little white spirit and now waiting for it to dry.... .. Think I am going to be very pleased with the results when it gets a coat of matt varnish... .. Thanks again for looking in... Regards Alan

Hans wrote:I think you are going to have a wonderful effect when sanded and oiled?? looks great. Hi Hans, think I agree with you, she will look very nice indeed with some subtle treenailing... .. Thought about applying just danish oil but think I am more inclined to go with a coat of matt varnish when the time comes.... .. Tomorrow going to tidy up the stern section and then look at starting on the lower hull with walnut strips.... .. Thanks for looking in and your very nice comments... Regards Alan
