and so a little more progress.... after seeing the fantastic work mark did with the red landing/mind your head lights...I decided to have a crack at it myself...as mark did forewarn us it is a bit tricky when the landing leg pods are in position....however a little unscrewing and poking around I managed it...and I'm well chuffed with the results so thanks for the inspiration mark !!! I ordered a bunch of the small connectors for the circuit board from china to try out different lighting ideas and have discovered during my meddling's that the inputs reserved for the landing lights that come with the kit do not currently have power to them...I think that when the mysterious landing gear switch is installed then these inputs will be active and the floodlights will only come on when the landing gear is installed. also did some work on part tp15....tis is the area of heavy damage on the top of the falcon behind the rectenna dish. the damage on the part was less than convincing and looked more like the drawn on beauty spots of a French aristocrat from blackadder !!!! so out with the filler and the dremmel to get it a bit closer to how it should be.... loving the way everybody's builds are progressing...fantastic work ...wish I had more time to peruse them more thoroughly... cheers for now ade adriuus attached the following image(s):

Hey Adruis... did you try jumping the landing gear switch posts to see if the light posts produce any power? BTW - Excellent work on the upper damage holes... looks awesome!

good call....I put a current to the landing gear switch input and indeed the floodlight inputs become live....guess this proves the lights only illuminate with the gear switch activated....cheers
and thanks to tony for the comments too

That’s excellent work Adriuus, I have used the same connectors as you and I was going to connect my red lighting in the light socket and connect the landing lights supplied in the other, connecting the two in one. I love the red light in the cockpit, I’ll have to think about doing that myself. You’re doing a great job so far, keep up the good work. Mark Regards Markwarren (Mark) Admin

Excellent build!!!
I haven't seen other builds add the hold into the model yet - so with that, how much room under the hold is available when mounted? I see that you added some pipes and visuals under the floor of the hold, so there must be some room there but would you mind measuring? I just don't want to add too much depth in that area.
Thanks - jer

hi...thanks for looking in jer.. ive measured the depth of my underfloor pit and it is 20mm in depth from the underside of the hold floor....I think this is about the maximum you could add as I have positioned the two turret wells and both halves of the hull together and all joins up okay....the cockpit itself is a good guide as its position in the hull is fixed and from there you can see the depth of the opposite side between the hull pieces....knowing that the hold must be level in the interior I decided this was a fair estimate of available depth when I did mine.... as I mentioned before I don't know how the hold is mounted yet and may need to adapt that mounting.. but I don't think it should be too difficult... hope that's helpful....good luck !!!!

Thanks - it's good to know that I'm not pushing that 20mm yet :) Keep at it, your MF is really looking good.

Nice work on the revised hull damage. Looks like that might have to happen a lot in other areas; it's certainly the least plausible aspect of the kit. I'm really going to have to invest in a dremel.

hi again fellow falcon builders... just thought I'd post a couple of progress pics of the upper hull as it stands at the moment....this weeks issue will see the frame work all joined together and nearly complete !!! Also whilst looking at the issues of the mag for sale on ebay I came across a guy offering pre orders of upcoming issues with a pic of what we can expect from issues 67-68....somewhat puzzlingly it looks like deag have decided to colour a couple more random panels for us....very strange !!! great to see our Australian brethren joining in on the build diaries and I look forward to having a good look in on all the new builds over easter... cheers all ade adriuus attached the following image(s):

Sweet work, adriuus. That's looking pretty convincing! Your interior works well with the outside too; the additions to the hold walls really add to the effect. And thanks for keeping us abreast of future issues. Yes, the painted panels seem so arbitrary at this point. Why only those and no other grey ones on the hull? I thought DeAg had given up on the whole idea, and kind of hoped they had. Even, so can't wait to see the whole thing take shape.

Amazing how time passes so quickly seeing the issue numbers that are now being built. Its a lovely model but would be a problem for me to display with some of the other projects i gave ongoing/planned. Hope the rest of your build goes well. Happy Modelling

hi everyone, not had much to report over the last few weeks...not been tinkering or adapting or otherwise abusing the ever expanding falcon !!! I did do a bit of strengthening around the bottom turret window with epoxy for my mounting stand and whilst checking it all over took some snaps of the falcon in flight pose...thought I would share with you guys...as always I am in awe of the great work people are doing on here and its hard to believe that in 30 weeks it will all be over for us in the U.K.. adriuus attached the following image(s):

WOW! You're so far along! And looking great as well! If at first you don't succeed,
maybe you should skip the chainsaw juggling...

Nice work Ade, love the stand you've done. How did you get the two halves together like that? Regards Markwarren (Mark) Admin

thanks mark....its a bit of a tricky thing to get the two halves together ....the main hold piece separates them ..(with a crafty bit of bubble wrap stuffed in)...the lugs and holes of the cockpit tube press together then the back is held up by a Tamiya weathering kit!!!...all very technical
