A superb exhibition car deserves a nice information plaque. I laser-printed the information sheet on cardstock, cut it out to size, glued it to a piece of black foam core laminated board and created protective glass from an acetate sheet (holiday card wrapper), and glass holders from a 1/6” wide remnant of a photoetch sheet sprue.

The stand for the information plaque and crowd control rope barrier stanchions are made of table card holders. These were found at Amazon for $18 for a dozen in 8” height (the shortest they had). They consist of a metal pipe abt. 1/3” diameter with a screw-in base and a round spring card holder on top. I cut the pipe length down to 4” and added a 2” diameter self-stick non-skid rubber circle (for the furniture, found for a couple of dollars for 8 pcs. at a local home improvement store) to the base.

The cap on top came from a bead craft supply store; I drilled a hole in it and inserted a bent nail on glue.

After the glue had dried thoroughly, the information plaque in 1/8 scale is now ready!

Quite a few things have been accomplished since my previous post.

(1) I decided to make at least some improvements to the rather plain-looking suspension parts using gold & silver metallic paint as per pictures of spare parts I found online. Also replaced M2.6x12mm self-tapping screws from the kit by M2x14 mm hex socket head cap screws & M2 nuts. Front suspension assemblies look quite a bit better now.

I’ve also replaced M2.6x8.5 mm screws on the rear shock absorber assembly with similar M2 socket head cap screws & nuts with center sockets painted with gunmetal paint for effect.

(2) Added better information panels (self-made decals) to the ignition coils assembly.

(3) Added photoetched hose clamps to the windscreen washer tank hose (around the silver regulator) and made a bracket to attach the hose from a small piece of thin sheet steel; attached the bracket to the heater hose and the regulator to the bracket using miniature screws; also dry-brushed heater hose ribs with silver paint for better appearance.

Pack 11.

Stage 35. The right radiator assembly is quite good missing just some wiring and brackets to make it more realistic. I drilled two small holes in the radiator fan motor housing and inserted to coated wires. Another wire goes into the side of right radiator part A. Silver paint emphasizes screws & fittings.

As per LP400/500 schematics, radiator guard is attached to the radiator itself by three thin brackets, one on top and two on the sides. I fabricated those using 1/8” (3 mm) wide strips of this sheet steel, drilled holes and attached them to the fan guard and the radiator using miniature screws & nuts, then painted the brackets with semi-gloss black paint. A piece of heat-shrink tubing was used to create wiring bundle for the radiator assembly. These few extra details do make it look so much better!

Radiator hose just needed some flat black rubber paint and silver highlights to make it more realistic-looking.

Stages 36, 37. Front hubs are very nicely molded and just need a touch of black paint to emphasize some details. What’s completely missing from the set are the brake lines. I fabricated the attachments using small pieces of round plastic profiles painted gold, drilled holes, inserted small bent pieces of bead wire and superglued them to the brake pad housing parts of the hubs.

The brake lines are made of 1/24” (1 mm) elastic cord with a piece of steel pin inserted into the end on instant glue with an added mini nut and a piece of thin metal pipe.

Brake discs are painted uniform silver but they actually have quite a bit of wear along the working surfaces (see booklet for pack 09, page 174), so I scraped off silver paint and dry-brushed with flat gunmetal on both sides. Light circular rubbing with fine sanding pads replicate worn-out grooves.

Brake duct cooling hoses got a wash of diluted white paint to emphasize the grooves and was attached to appropriate connectors, plus photoetched hose clamps.

Pack 11 is now completed!

I finally got back my custom photoetched universal loops for rope barrier stanchions so I was able to finish their assembly. The bases are table card holders cut down to 4” in height and with added 2” diameter self-stick non-skid rubber circles on the bottoms. The tops are 0.35” (9 mm) internal diameter end caps from a local beadworks supply store, superglued into place along with the photoetched universal loops.

12” long twisted ropes with hooks had been made earlier; so the crowd control barrier is now ready!

The bolts are a nice touch. Which ones did you use?
