The refueling thing is weird though. The metal plate they delivered as a cover for the probe will only fit for the open configuration, it is not shaped correctly to fit for a closed configuration.

Hi Greyhawk,

Looking at your work I am so impressed I feel a wobbly in my wallet, as this kit when finished in your hands, will be a super example of the F14.

Regards

Trev.

I'm really envious about that kit... Lovely airplane and the execution looks great too.

With issue 13 we receive the starbord side equivalent of issue 10. No build report, I'm on vacation, the plane is in the office.

Issue 14, the bottom side of the left wing, still no building, still on vacation.

Have an unrelated Virago instead.

Which lead me to an idea. Tomcat... Topgun.... Danger Zone... Anyone know if Aoshima motorbike kits are any good? They seem to be the only ones to offer the correct Kawasaki Ninja.

Ha, that's a nice idea! But will you add the little Scientologist too?
Not sure about Aoshima kits, I have been looking at a few car kits from them myself but didn't commit to any yet - so I'll be happy to hear some opinions too.

No, i don't really do figures. I can't recognize peoples faces in real life (I have prosopagnosia), I'd be hard pressed to try and make someone recognizable as the Cruiser.

Back in the office after vacation and sickness. Caught up with the F14 today.

With issue 13 we get the starboard navigation light and hull element, analogous to the earlier port side one.

Issue 14 and 15 delivered the lower half of the left wing and the flaps respectively. There was no building work to be done in these issues.

With issue 16 we get the leading edge slats for the left wing and the first part of the mechanics that will eventually control the flaps. The flaps were attached to the lower half of the left wing.

Issue 17.

We receive a LED for the left wing, which via optical fiber and a plastic fitting becomes a navigation light.

In the summer sun the light isn't really visible, but it looks quite nice in the dark, as much as I can make it dark in here.

No update next week, my news agent is on a short holiday. We would only receive the top half of the wing with nothing to actually build anyway.

So we had some issues with getting our issues issued. BUT we're finally back on track.

Pictured above are issues 18 and 19, the upper side of the left wing and the spoilers.

Unfortunately the spoilers don't close completely. I'll have to check and analyze why that is and how to remedy it in the next few days.

Meanwhile expect the issue 20 building report after lunch.

So this was solved easily enough. All that was needed was the very very careful application of a bit of pressure on the underside of the spoiler hinges to get them to snap in correctly. Next update incoming, but first I need to eat.

There's a whole lot of whispering going on. I wouldn't be surprised if this starts in the UK very very soon.

Issue 20

We receive the control board for the left wing and a small motor. Goes together pretty much without problems, only one should deviate from the instructions and fit all cables first, THEN install the board. Otherwise one will need a nephew with tiny fingers to install the cables.

I have not yet closed up the wing contrary to the instructions. I'm waiting for the next test board to arrive and do a functionality test first. This'll be a while. for now we will be repeating the last 6 issues or so to do the whole thing again for the right wing.
