That howitzer looks fantastic Daran, even when it's unpainted and putting the figure next to it gives a very good idea of how big it was in reality.

Nice work so far my friend, well done!! Cool ThumpUp

Hi everyone and thanks for looking in and all your comments. BigGrin
The howitzer is done!Drool BigGrin Very nice kit and was a pleasure to build. My only criticism with the kit is the way the parts are attached on the sprues, its thick plastic and takes some trimming, and the seams were a pain to remove. Apart from that the detail is very crisp and it went together like a Tamiya, and the instructions were really easy to follow and well laid out.BigGrin Next up will be to finish the engine, waiting for wire to replace the overflow pipes, and then primer on all of it!BigGrin

The solder wire turned up today. I prefer using solder as its easy to bend into any shape and stays where you bend it without springing back. Pipes have been replaced and when its properly dry I can have a clean up. BigGrin

Nem,

Your last photo just caused my memory bank to open a little. The hose material supplied was not overly flexible and just would not drop realistically on its hanger. (The buckles sucked also) I replaced my with electrical wire but you may also just line the supplied hose with your solder wire to hold it in shape. Just a thought.

The canopy has been cut down and modified to suit the build, just the planking to do on the inside. The edges are done in plasticard as the originals were a bit flowery and had fairy lights! Not what you would want on a battlefield!BigGrin
Here is a mock up of the engine with its wheels, you get an idea of the size with Joe (he looks like a Joe!LOL)stood next to it!BigGrin

Made quite a leap forward today. I have filled the flywheel, I cut out 2 discs of very thin plasticard to cover the holes and has given the result I wanted. The roof timbers have been cut from some planks I had kicking about the parts drawer. The engine is as far as I can go without paint, so all of the parts for the main assembly got a coat of primer. There are some marks I need to fill in the front boiler and the roof so out came the Mr Surfacer. There are a few more parts to prime tomorrow and I will also give a coat to the howitzer while I have the primer out. Then I can get some base colours down on the engine, howitzer and Joe's body!BigGrin

Looking good Daran, nice work so far. I think I would have replaced those spiral stanchions that hold up the canopy with plain plastic rod though as they look a bit too ornate for a war machine? Just an observation my friend and thought I'd point it out? Cool ThumpUp
