I can't help with paint for the kit parts as I haven't received those bits yet. However, I've attached a pic of two of my XK model engines for reference, and two genuine engines. The E Types usually had gold cylinder heads but were actually quite a few different colours - red, silver, light blue, orange and black. It all depended on the racing configuration of that engine. The model you're building should have a gold cylinder head. Hope it helps... Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Hi Roy, Thanks for posting those pics, your engines look really good I'm playing the safe game at the moment but as the engine seems to be just screwed and not glued together I might return back to this later when I'm a bit more confidant, it really depends on how much of the painted area will be on show at the end of the build. Guy's, can we keep May's build free of anything but her build., items for discussion should be posted into the Jaguar discussion section thus leaving May's build diary to being just that. Thanks

Hi, Great to see the Spal has jumped ahead with the official diary, so I/we can see what's coming up in future issues. The diary is now up to issue 17 and looking really good http://forum.model-space...spx?g=posts&t=23549

Hi, This months delivery has arrived containing issues 13, 14, 15 and 16 along with a free cap which hasn't left my sons head since I gave it to him Actually it arrived on Thursday (6th) but I missed the post and I only got round to picking it up from the sorting office this morning. The Shaft that was installed back in issue 10 kept on falling out as I went through the issues so as you can see in some of the pics I temporally taped it in place so I wouldn't lose it and also the Air Cleaner installed in issue 11 also kept falling of so I just left it of and put it back on at the end, there are a few people on Facebook that have glued this part in place but I don't want to do that until I'm sure it doesn't have to come of again!! Issue 13
Engine Block Part 2Again the magazine offers an option to paint the block but as before I'm leaving it as it is, apart from that all was well... MFG attached the following image(s):

Hi, Issue 14 Fan Belt and Electrics I found that "poking" the screw through the dynamo and then lining it up to the receiving hole in the Chain Cover first (stage 11 and 12) until it gained a "grip" and then correctly positioning the Dynamo was easier than how the instructions noted to do it - well I hope that made sense anyway The final task of inserting a JP05 screw at the end didn't make sense to me at all as it didn't seem to do anything, but all was revealed in the next issue May. Hi, Issue 15
Exhausts and IgnitionI found both of the exhaust manifolds tricky to get into place as neither of them seem to line up with the corresponding holes in the block but I won the battle in the end The rev counter is by far the smallest part to fit so far in the build, I was really cautious about losing it, but all was well. Although I'm not sure if the angle of the two prong things (stop me if I'm getting to technical!) are angled the right way around it's hard to tell in the magazine. The two halves of the block fitted together perfectly with no problems what so ever What seemed "on paper" to be the trickiest part of this issue's tasks, installing the Plug Leads was actually not as bad as it looks, thanks mainly to a tip I picked up on Youtube yesterday which is to wet the ends so that they fit into the receiving holes a lot easier - and it worked a treat, I found that once they were in they stayed in and I had no issues with them "popping" back out as noted in some of the comments I've read on line May. WTG May, Looking really good. Happy to see you`re enjoying this build. All you need to do now is buy your son a Jag to go with the cap. Might be a bit young for a real one yet though, but there are some nice diecast ones on the market. Happy building Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi, Thank you Derek, Believe me if I had the chance I'll be buying myself one a long time before anybody else but sadly mine wasn't the winning 84mil winning ticket last week so it's back to dreaming I am enjoying the build, at the moment it's not quite as scary as I thought it would be, although those spokes...... Hi, Thank you Robin, I think the screws for this build are bigger than the cockpit of those pups you're building http://forum.model-space...spx?g=posts&t=22882
