Many thanks all you guys. I haven't done a great deal on the big Duc lately - busy with other stuff. However, front end just about sorted. Brake calipers painted - tiny brush and strong magnifying lamp/lens. Added the missing brake sensor cable. The front mudguard was a tight fit but went on eventually. Forks now permanently fixed and the suspension works a treat. This thing is now becoming awkward to handle and work on due to the shape. At least a car tends to just sit flat... Rear suspension next, plus some weathering to the front wheel area. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Hi Phil.
Yes, LOTS of sanding to both tyres as they are quite glossy OOB, and they also have a huge moulding seam around the centre. It's quite a monster now and is becoming difficult to work on...
Great fun though.
Roy.

Righty-ho lads. One extreme to the other... Over the past 2 weeks I've done little on the big Duc. Yesterday and today - another story. The rear frame, wheel, brakes - all sorted. There were a few cables etc I had to scratch but of all things, the decals on the rear wheel were a NIGHTMARE... 9 different decals all around the centre of the wheel and even the biggest was about 2mm x 0.5mm. Lots of deep breaths, gentle tweezers and knife blade and plenty of Pinot... The actual chain is amazing, and not difficult to fit. Tensioning it is a tad more challenging. Brake sensor and wires had to be scratched - missing from the kit - and the centre hub had to be altered from 6 horrible black screws to 6 nuts and studs - all scratch made. The rear assembly has been fitted and now it looks like a bike!!! It sits on the stand (part of the kit) and is ready for LOTS more work, scratch wiring, and detailing. Sadly, the light weathering I've added all over the place doesn't show in the pics other than the LONG time spent sanding down the tyre treads... Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Even though you always know it's a big kit, it always sill comes out shocking how truly big these things turn out. It's an amazing looking beast. DeAgostini kit builds:

If you look at the last pic, you can see the front wheel is overhanging the edge of my cutting mat quite a bit - yet the rear tyre is beyond 500mm.....
This thing is BIG...

Many thanks chaps. I must admit I'm finding this build to be great fun. I've built up the rear suspension, kick stand and all the assorted gubbins that goes with it, and fitted it to the bike. This behemoth is now seriously heavy and needs to be on the stand from now on - too many 'breakable' bits on the sides to lay it down. I've also built the main upper frame and rear lights etc. Also now fitted are the first of the actual body panels. There are constantly new wires and leads etc being scratch made as the actual kit really has very little in this respect and there's TONS of it on the real bike. Moving on to the front end next... This is really moving on now Roy.
Interesting to note that you are not following the kit assembly sequence. It makes sense to get it on it's wheels for stability and ease of further work.

Hello Dennis. Yes, I'm not following the instructions that come with the kit - AT ALL... In fact, they are under a pile of bits beside my desk. I'm using the P Koo DVD which is superb. Paul has built the kit and knows the pitfalls. He clearly explains a 'better' way to build the model and avoid the aggro. I am adding a mountain of extra details - something I said I wouldn't do at the outset of this build. I've also added a lot of light weathering but it doesn't show very well in the pics. I want the bike to look used, but kept very clean which I imagine, these 'superbikes' are. The handlebar section is amazing. Of the entire model, I think this section/area is without doubt one of Pocher's triumphs. Every part is assembled exactly like the real bike - I am using the scale hardware though. The detail and realism of these parts is unbelievable. Ok, I'm adding the missing cables etc, but it's still stunning. The decals are a hair-tearing exercise though. On the left-hand control block alone there are 11 separate miniscule decals... Lots of Pinot consumed there... Amazing fun. I'm NO biker but after this, I might be tempted by one of DeAgs 'full kits'... Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Awesome build! Are you planning to repaint all the cowlings? Any images I post on my personal builds are free to be used and shared under Creative Commons Attribution license, which means you can do what you want with them, on the condition you mention I'm the author.
Happy building :-) http://www.model-space.com/gb/

Hello chaps. Thanks for the kind words.
Surprisingly, there's still a lot to do although it looks almost finished. I'm not going to repaint the body panels as I like the colour and they are pre-painted exceptionally well. It isn't just bare red plastic.
Before long I'll need to get a display case for the beastie but goodness knows where it's going to go as my hidey-hole is already crammed to the edges with models.
Roy.
