I've had some success with opening up the louvers on engine bay side panels and Bonnet. I was just a bit too cautious with the scalpel previously and I've found it is possible to just slice into the leading edge of the slots. A strip of 180 grit paper, cut narrowly, will fit through the opening. I fastened that to one side of a Fretsaw and held the other end onto the saw with my hand. Was then able to slid the panel on the paper and it quickly removes the material from the slot. care has to be taken to get equal material removal across the opening. I did this in a area that was easy to clean up the dust created and wore a dust mask. I once read somewhere that this casting resin is bad stuff to inhale. Malc. RM1 attached the following image(s):

So I'm still at a mostly dry fit stage but with paints and polishes done as I go through the build. There is a white metal panel that bridges the fire wall and the dashboard castings. It will get painted with the bodywork later. Seems to all fit together quite well. Malc. RM1 attached the following image(s):

There's some piping to be done from the pannier tanks and the main rear tank. This seems to be a driver actuated change over. There'll be a lever on that valve when finished. I've made mock ups of the pipes ( still to be formed from the supplied Aluminium wire ) Just to practice my pipe bending skills ( or lack of ! ) Malc. RM1 attached the following image(s):

Many thanks to Admin for the "build of the month" highlighting. It's very encouraging to get other builders comments and advice plus this recognition. The bulkhead / dashboard on this kit takes a self adhesive surface "effect" foil which has to be cut from a square sheet. I found it best to strip the protective layer from the foil backing and tape the foil onto the cutting mat. Adhesive side exposed facing up. Then press the bulkhead down onto it. This avoids handling the flimsy and sticky foil. Once pressed down I cut around the shape with a knife. Managed to avoid wrinkles in the surface. The individual instruments I'll finish and fit later.
