The next 'mini-project' was to fabricate the two block and tackle assemblies. These were used to lower the torpedo into the compartment, once it had been manouvered through the loading hatch. The fist step was to make two wheels that keep the chain located correctly within each block and tackle assembly. This photo shows the rollers fitted. Rollers and guide wheels had 0.6mm diameter hole through the centre of each and corresponding holes in the block and tackle assemblies to align a brass shaft. Good morning from 'The Dockyard'. Thanks for all the comments guys, much appreciated! I've now turned my attention to building the two main motors. These would take their power from the batteries to turn the prop shafts and propellers. The first part was to spend a bit of time just looking at photos and mentally breaking down these motors into basic shapes to form the body. Essentially they are cylindrical, consisting of various diameters and widths, so this is what i started to make. I used 6.5mm square acetal strip, cut to lengths that match the different widths of the individual cylinder sections. Drilling a 2.0mm diameter through the centre of each gave me a datum. I then used a compass cutter to form various diameters from 0.5mm thick acetal sheet and finished off by opening out the centre hole to 2.0mm.
