Hi,

For the lighting effect, I boxed all the instrument panels and core windows to be lit up with 2mm styrene card behind the panel and used aluminium sticky foil to stop light escaping.

I had purchased the VoodooFX lighting kit which i soldered up using different leads, 11 LED's in total so far and 5 more to be constructed and soldered to the PCB.

I tested them this week and all the LED's came on!!!! Dry fitted a couple of panels to see how they look and was impressed with the result. especially the core window, the led changes colour every few seconds.

Thats all for now.

Regards
Claret

Hi Benny, Jase, Alan & andy,

Many thanks for your nice comments.

I was relieved all the LED's worked and surprised how well they bring the model to life.

Still a lot to do before I can glue the interior in place and set all the lighting up.

Regards
Claret

Hi,

Some more progress.

The PE kit has 5 microphones with it and suggests installing them on the frame uprights. however, checking the film stills, the only microphone I can see is on the side of the back instrument panel.

I proceed to cut the microphone one and glued it onto 2mm styrene. Once the glue was dry i cut and sanded the styrene to the shape of the mic. I then primed and painted matt black. I used 0.35mm solder wire coiled around a 1mm dry bit and primed, painted black and glued to the mic. result below.

And glued in place...

Hi,

I have made three air cylinders from 5mm plastic rod, 1mm brass rod and wire. Painted and installed under the bunk. I used de-soldering braid for the strap to hold them in place. result below:

Hi,

Although I am lighting the model extensively, I have not wanted and wires to come out of the model to the battery and switch.

To overcome this, I am going to put the battery into the access tunnel which is accessed by the hatch seen in previous photos and a hatch at the rear of the craft. the later is going to be the point where i can switch the lights on and house the battery.

I have hinged the rear hatch and spring loaded it so it shuts back when the battery is in place etc.

It works really well, and opens and closes with not to much force.

Regards
claret
