Hi Alan. Very best of luck with your 'repair' on the stern, It looks like its going really well so far. It's strange how we can concentrate so hard on all the tiddly little details that we need a magnifying glass to see and yet something as major as forgetting to chamfer the stern on both sides or not realising that half my skid beams were missing goes right by us without a second glance! Well done on your recovery though. (I've still got half of that cocktail stick from the bowsprit left if you need it! ) Keep them coming! Tonight I continued with the stern fix and just to make sure everything would work out nicely I started working on the stern post itself... .. Continued to remove material from between the bamboo and the walnut, did this very gingerly... Once happy I glued the walnut planking back in place, clamped and left to cure.... With the stern post, first thing I did was to remove all the black ash from the edges... .. Cut two pieces from 1mm walnut sheet to the thickness of the stern post, this will be for the stern post sides... Then cut a length of .6mm thick walnut to be used on the rear of the post... Glued and clamped the pieces in place leaving a 1.5mm inset along the post length... .. Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Trimmed down and sanded the walnut on the stern post and finished off by dry fitting the whole thing to the hull..... Have to say I am over the moon by the way it all turned out... .. Will glue the stern post is place once I have prepped the keel and bow sections.... Gandale attached the following image(s):

Finally this evening I masked the hull in preparation of painting the upper part of the hull black..... Happy building all.. Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Robin Thanks Robin and am delighted with the way it has all turned out.... .. And you are right of course, just goes to show no matter how much you concentrate and think you have everything covered, something crops up to bite you in the backside.... .. Still, I always believe there are never problems, only solutions.... selecting the right solution is the hard part.... .. You keep that cocktail stick, it's an invaluable tool to have.... Tonight another milestone was achieved this evening, it is the first time I have ever used an airbrush and am so very pleased with the results.... .. Also pleased I took time out and had a few practice sessions just to get the feel of how it all worked...including the mixing and thinning of the paint. .. Completed painting the upper hull black so tomorrow I may have a go at painting the red strip..... Very pleased with how it looks..... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Kind Regards Nigel Thanks Nigel, one of the nice things that isn't showing up on the pics is you can still see the treenailing even though I have painted over the top... The treenails have the appearance of being slightly raised.... Regards Alan
