The bolts are a nice touch. Which ones did you use?

I bought this set off Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/H...crews+hex+head+hilitchi

It's a nice set of M2 & M3 nuts and bolts of various lengths, very useful for this and other projects.

Steve, Kev, Dave et al, thanks for looking and your kind comments! I am glad you are enjoying my built. Unfortunately, I don't have time to put up info about my other builds (HD, Suzuki & Honda bikes) but they are so nice I barely make any mods, they are mostly stock.

More to come later in July (I hope!)

Pack 12 will be arriving soon; meantime I made a couple more improvements. I bought a bunch of hobby supplies from an excellent Japanese online marketplace Rakuten Global (http://global.rakuten.com/en/index-b.html) including braided tubes 1 mm and 2 mm diameter useful to duplicate various engine hoses & brake lines. Using a flexible bead wire dressed in 1 mm tubing, I replicated better brake lines.

Another braided hose is clearly visible going out of the corner of the radiator (see the booklet for Pack 04), so I added one (along with a photoetch hose clamp) to my radiator.

More to follow!

Thanks, gents! Wow, I can’t believe it’s been a year since I started working on this model!

Pack 12. Stages 38-40.

As for the front brake assemblies, brake duct cooling hoses got a wash of white paint to emphasize the grooves plus photoetched hose clamps.

Brake discs have been scraped off to remove silver paint and dry-brushed with flat gunmetal on both sides. Light circular rubbing with fine sanding pads replicate worn-out grooves.

Rear upper arm sockets were painted silver to match pictures in the Pack 09 booklet. Also added brake line connectors (made of bits of a round plastic tube and bead wire) to the rear hubs. Brake lines are made of bead wire and braided tubing (purchased from Rakuten Global).

Rear wheels in the model are conspicuously missing handbrake pads so I manufactured them from bits this sheet steel, attached them to the brake discs by washer screws and painted them dark silver. Connected handbrake lines (bead wire and braided tubing) to the narrow protruding part.

Below is a picture of the right rear wheel with the installed brake assembly (the left one will be in the next issue).

Working on some additional display items to accompany the car, more to follow soon.

(1) A while ago I’ve decided to add Lambo logos to the floor mats (embroidered logos are present in WW Countach). The easiest way to do it was with a custom rubber stamp. O I waited while one of the big custom printing websites had a major semi-annual sale and was able to make a rubber stamp for just a few dollars.

I spread a thin layer of red enamel paint on a piece of foil, dipped the stamp and made a few tries on paper which came out pretty good. Then I attempted the same of the kit’s mats. The results were fairly good, not as crisp as on paper because the synthetic “pile” had absorbed some of the paint but still you can see the logos and the outline of the word “Lamborghini” quite well.

(2) Two types of red anodized aluminum scale model spare tire stands were bought on eBay along with a jack. Spare tires were ordered from DeAgostini, they were kind enough to only charge me for shipping.

(3) The overhead truss kit is from Japan, purchased on Amazon, as well as LED spot lights. They were all in soft grey plastic. I painted the truss assembly with chrome spray paint and the spot lights with gloss metallic black.

The Lamborghini banners were custom printed on artistic canvas, cut and glued to stiff wire, and attached to the truss.

The end result will look something like the picture below (from a Japanese hobby website); this is where I got the idea but mine will be even better (I hope!)

Pack 13 should be arriving soon.

Wow - that should make a very stunning display.

Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Hope the rest of the build goes well.

I love all your extras. I would love to do this with the Mustang. Sadly there is not much love for 1/8th scale accessories and I don't have the skill or patience to make them myself. There is a lot of love for 1/10th scale stuff thanks to the R/C rock crawler scene. I wonder if I could get away using that stuff or if it would just be too small.

Metal Mech, welcome! I did use some 1/10 scale accessories like a jerry can, a jack and a wheel rack. The scales on those are approximate and they still look good I think, not too small compared to the model. Good luck with your Shelby build, planning to sign up too!
