Just a little done with the bonnet at present. Stripes and some decals added. The bonnet is just laying on the main shell to get a bit of an idea of it, hence the gap at the back edge... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Very nice, looking good. You must be well pleased with the progress that you have made. Is it the same size as the Model Space version? Alec Built: Bluenose, Arab Dhow, HMS Bounty, Hummer H1, D51, Spitfire,E type Jaguar. In Progress: HMS Victory, , Yamaha YZR-M1
Adapt, improvise, overcome.

Thanks chaps. It's starting to come together now. Currently working on the doors to get a half decent fit. The actual kit parts - well, say no more... Getting the number 23 on the bonnet was 'interesting'. I printed 3 decals just in case. Luckily, the 3rd attempt went ok. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thanks Al.
The doors are actually driving me nuts!
They genuinely don't really fit, anywhere! Too close to the doorstep, huge gap at the front, wrong angle at the back, and uneven 'tilt' from top to bottom... Did I mention that the 4 fixing points (NOT alterable) make the door rise up toward the rear???
Lots of added plastic at both ends of the doors as well as shaving the bottom and adding at the top/front.
I don't think I'll ever get them perfect, but hopefully, close.
Roy.

The doors are on!!! After around a week of fiddling, fettling, adding plastic, shaving plastic, filler, primer, paint, they are now stuck to the beastie. As I said before, not perfect but the original kit doors were genuinely laughable. There was just no way I could have used them 'as-is'. However, its actually just the door skins I've fitted. The inner panels will have to be scratch made as this car had cheapo vinyl over hardboard. It was for racing - not pretty looks. Headlamp 'buckets' now also silver, courtesy dark silver self adhesive vinyl cut from a tracing paper template. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

The doors look like a good fit Roy, definitely worth the time you spent fettling them Al

Many thanks you guys. I've now made and fitted the oil cooler and plumbed it in. A little extra wiring in place and now the numbers are on the doors. When they are totally dry - a day or so - I'll run a blade along the door bottoms. Rear diff cage and wheels next... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Well chaps, now on to the wheels. Tyres and rim parts cast, painted and assembled. Front wheels will be fitted next, then the rear diff cage etc, and the rear wheels. In case you're wondering - I always flatten the bottoms of my tyres so that the finished model sits better. Look at any real car... NO tyre is perfectly round, particularly where the car is resting, at the bottom. Seats need looking at too... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

A little bit today. Two resin seats, now covered in black leather and faded down using fine wet and dry and white chalk dust. The seats are fixed in the car now. Wheels/tyres painted and assembled, and testing for fit. Brakes etc need making first though. Roy. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

I've done a little more on this one in the last few days although it's a bit warm for sitting in my cave, plastic bashing... I've assembled the rear cage and adjusted the axle length to suit my own wheels, which meant shopping about 16mm off. One door inner panel is now sorted. This car had a very basic hardboard panel with a surprisingly rough hole chopped in it so you could get your hand in and open the door by directly operating the lock. No handles etc, all to save weight. The hardboard was covered with leather cloth but I have used leather. All of the surface detail and horizontal trim strips were filed off first. The fixing screw detail was added and then the panel fitted. A thin rubber strip has also been added to the upper door edge on the outside as per the real car. Once the other door is done in the same way, I'll fit the rear diff cage and wheels, then add the front wheels. Roy roymattblack attached the following image(s):
