great work there harty.

i have never built a panart kit before and was wondering how good or bad the instructions are, especially for the rigging. i've found in the past, especially with a/l kits that all you get are some very basic instructions with rigging plans that make almost no sense.

Everything you have heard is true saintsman. There are few laser cut pieces and you have to make a lot from scratch. The rigging plan is one sheet so a basic knowledge of roughly how everything goes is essential or something you can look at and copy. Even at this stage I have made a couple of changes otherwise it looks too basic. Go back to page 1 of this build and look at the parts supplied, it will give you a better idea.

Finally got the matierials to build the front end beak. Decided to do it in 1mm plastic rod and then enhance it up a bit. This is as far as I have got with it. It comes in a bit fiddly also, but it should,nt look too bad when finished and paintedBigGrin .

i'm not surprised that you have used plastic, it can be really frustrating trying to line up wooden parts on the beakhead, no matter that every detail
looks and measures the same on both side, no matter what the wood never seems to line up the way you want.

keep up the good work
Come on you Jimmies

Very good use of the plastic. I too keep a supply of plastic strip and micro rod, it has oodles of uses and conforms to oblique angles quite readily, and of course it glues to itself very easily so its good for building parts in bias.
Your build is looking spot on at the moment 10/10.

Hello Harty,
Your build is looking good,
I will try to remember about the plastic rod when I get to this stage in six or seven months time.
Due to family commitments, work and decorating I am only managing one sometimes two planks a day.

cheers Peter

Never thought about using plastic on a ship but after looking at your build you can get some great detail in the construction, great build. best wishes peter
