Final view of the air tanks fitted in place. Looking nice and busy now in the end of this compartment. No space is wasted on a submarine; everyone inch is filled with equipment of some sorts and this is what I want to convey with this build.

Hi Budgie, yes mate, I will be continuing fwd. Still lots to fit in this compartment; the main motors, electrical switchboard plus loads more pipes, valves and gauges! After that, it's onto the Engine Room! Flapper

Cracking build this Phil, a great credit to your skills and dare I say perseverance? This has been a truly mammoth project for you and one which I'm not sure that I would have been able to undertake myself just because of the sheer length of time it takes - but it will most definitely be worth it in the end!

The U-boat has suffered a modelling disaster on a catastrophic scale!

I conduct all my modelling in the kitchen [The Dockyard] and unbeknownst to me at the time, the vent for the grill was still hot and the stern of my U-Boat was over it. I heard a crack, only to find some of it had melted. I'm crest fallen!

I am looking for two replacement parts; part 80 from issue 30 and part 103 from issue 136. Can you help? Do you know of anyone who has these parts? Please PM me if you have any info.

Oh dear …. that is so, so sad Phil, my heart goes out to you mate. I think if it was mine and knowing the mammoth amount of time and effort you've put into this fabulous build, I would have fallen in a heap on the floor and cried my eyes out!! Crying

Don't give up mate, you've already shown great fortitude and resolve by looking for replacement parts and remember it's not the end, just an unforeseen setback, but I'm sure that when the remedial work is complete, nobody will be able to tell it's even been repaired.

Must admit it does look quite authentic upside down with a massive hole in the aft section, as though it's been depth charged and lies stricken on the seabed! Bit of charred paint and a toy octopus and you'll have a brilliant (if expensive)) diorama mate! Blink
