Not a lot of progress today, had other things that needed to be done so just a short update as to what has been done.... Started of by finishing the bow bulkhead planking by sanding it all down. As mentioned in my previous post I was not too happy with the look of walnut, looked out of place so now it has been painted black..... am a lot happier with it now.... .. Then moved onto painting the newly planked section under the starboard side gallery. Finally made up some 1mm gratings and started to fit to the prow deck, this I will continue with tomorrow along with planking under the gallery on the port side... Happy building all.... Tonight I finally finished the prow decking, planking the frame with sapele, lining the grating holes before making up and fitting the gratings... For the two larger grating spaces I ended up using 2 grating kits and merging them together, worked out very nicely... .. Treenailed and sanded down.. Very pleased with the final results and once its had a coat of varnish think it will look the part.... .. Tomorrow intend to see if I can plank the underside of the port gallery before moving onto fairing and painting the beak ready for the fitting of the deck and side panels... Happy building all.. Hi Alan. That grating is superb! a lovely job and well worth the time put in it. Incidentally, I was looking at the smaller prow grating you made first, I counted 85 separate pieces in it! I didn't bother on it's big brother! (actually I kept losing count and gave up!) Very well done.
