Hi Walter, I used a thick super glue. It was actually the glue you get in "joiners mate" - a thick super glue with an activator pen sold for joinery - which use a lot when planking model ships but when gluing the plastic I didn't use the activator to give more working time but any thick super glue should be ok. Another quick update. I was going to start painting the torpedo room interior but after looking at the aft bulkhead casting I wasn't happy with the way the door was left as a blank so I decided to try and add some detail to match the pics of the kits interior detail. The first pic is of the casting as received with the the magazine image of the engine room door and my attempt under construction. The second pic is of my finished attempt again with the mags picture. I think it is an improvement on the as received item. I welcome any pro or con comments. Well done Graeme. Lovely piece of scratch building, well worth the effort. It makes all the difference to that door. Happy building David

Cheers David. I have now done a bit more work on the hull. I have left all work on the bow until the interior is fitted. I have made a start on the stern planking, cut slots in the frames where the flood slots cross them and painted the frames black. I have also glued the plank off-cuts onto the flood slot reinforcing pieces. Graeme pemberg attached the following image(s):

I have now fixed the flood slot reinforcement plates and completed the first layer of stern planking. I still have to sand the first planking over the entire hull (apart from the bow which I am not doing until the torpedo room interior is installed). I have also given the the torpedo room aft bulkhead and floor sections a wash in warm soapy water and rinsed prior to priming them. I will now be concentrating on the the torpedo room (and continuing tiling the Victory hull ) until next months parts arrive. Graeme pemberg attached the following image(s):

Nice to see those back end frames covered at last Graeme. Nice work. Been looking at your bulkhead door again, that was inspirational - may I ask how you made it please? Happy building David

Some excellent work going on here Graeme and love the scratchbuilt door on your resin bulkhead - well done!!
Watching this build with interest alongside Daffy09's equally good build of the same partwork - I rather like the look of this U-Boat. Well done both of you!!

Just had a browse through your build of this kit and didn't realise you could get an enhancement kit for the front torpedo room. Manage to find where to get this kit, but unfortunately, the shop in Germany has ceased trading, so it looks like I will have to do without it.
It makes a difference and you are doing a good job on your build so far.

Thanks for the comments guys. I mounted the aft bulkhead and floor sections to wood strips (1st pic) for spraying and gave them a coat of tamiya fine surface primer (2cnd pic). I then sprayed the aft bulkhead with vallejo ivory thinned with a couple of drops of vallejo airbrush thinners mixed in the airbrush cup (pic 3) and left to fully dry for a couple of days. I then masked off everything above the bottom of the door and sprayed the lower bit with Lifecolor DKM 51, Dunkelgrau (pic 4). The grey looks a lot darker in the photo than it actually is. I will be spraying the floor sections the same colour grey. I will now be picking out some features in other colours, adding hand wheels and applying a wash before fitting to the hull. That's it for now, all comments welcome. Graeme pemberg attached the following image(s):

Thanks for all the comments. I have now finished painting the aft bulkhead (the first pic shows this before the pin wash was added) and glued in place and made and painted the hand wheels for the bulkhead but I won't be fitting these until the last possible moment as they are bound to be knocked off when fitting the other parts. I have only applied a minimal pin was to enhance the features as I don't plan to show a heavy weathered finish. The last pic shows the bulkhead glued in place with the floor and port walls test fitted. I still have to finish painting the port walls. Graeme pemberg attached the following image(s):
