Hi Paul and Ian Thanks for your comments and looking in. Im finding the tiling quite theraputic although you have also to think as the lie of the hull can be challenging in parts. Regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi All The turned brass wheel's arrived today there in kit form but very nicley made. The axle on one will have to be removed to make the matching pair but there a marked improvement on the kit ones I think. Hi All Copper sheathing continues, when I started the sheathing I suspected that the plates were applied in certain ways such as when they were first used until later. The sheathing was firstly applied to the bottom of the stern post and keel and then worked forwards untill the hull was covered. The earlyest form of sheathing was the smiley face type where the shape of the hull caused the tiles to slope upwards at the bow and stern the plates were then capped with a straight run of plates, a wooden baton running along the top with the plates trimmed to the baton or simply a rolled up piece of canvas nailed in place. As time passed the copper plates were replaced by 'Muntz' metal an alloy of 60% copper and 40% zinc sometimes called Yellow metal. The tiling also was laid in straight lines a perfect example of the use of Muntz metal and straight tiling patterns is the newly refurbished Cutty Sark at Grenwich. More soon, Regards.
