I also started building the computer.here are no instructions for building this so I had to look at still frames from the movie to figure out what went where.

Beautiful work Carl. For me, this really is one of the most fascinating builds on the forum at the moment, and well done you for figuring out how that computer goes together!! Cool ThumpUp

Can I ask what brand of paint and colour you've used to paint the metallic parts which I presume is to replicate polished brass? Is it a brass colour or gold? It looks very smooth and not at all granular as some metallic paints do.

Thanks everyone,
back now form my vacation in Bermuda. Was in 70f weather on Friday watching sea Turtles and today I am shoveling snow!!

Kev I used regular Valpsar gold paint for the petals and testors Gold enamel paint sprayed through a airbrush for the time rings.I also use bare metal foil gold for some parts.

Moving on to the chair.interesting movie trivia. They used the chair from the original 1960s Time machine movie for the 2002 machine. The chair is made from several resin pieces. There is a detail under the arms of the chair that is missing from the kit. There are 6 beads as detail pieces .These are quite noticeable so I decided to add them.I got some cheap plastic beads and cut some thin brass wire and drilled into the base of the chair.Once the wire was in place I positioned the beads and glued them into place.next step is to paint the chair. The cushions will be hand painted.

Hello Carl and thanks for the info on the gold paint, very much appreciated. Glad you had a nice vacation and great work on the beads. Cool ThumpUp

Strange that the kit manufacturer missed such a prominent feature though? Huh Blink

Hi Kev,
I think the issue was molding the parts. It would be very difficult to mold the beads in resin. It is a very noticeable feature though and I felt it needed to be added.

I just realized I forgot to post the picture of the parts for the chair. The chair in the movie is made of leather with brass studs fixing the leather to the mahogany chair frame. The studs did not mold well so I drilled out each one and will be adding small brass screws to replicate the studs.I will airbrush the frame and hand paint the leather. I find it amusing that this amazing high tech time machine had essentially a Victorian chair as a centerpiece.

I started painting the chair.I am using Vallejos leather paint set.It consists of several paints which you mix the make the different base colors and highlights and shadows for the seat.I painted the wood frame of the chairs and now tiem to start the hand painting to replicate the look of leather. This will be covered with a gloss coat to simulate the shiny look and I will use brass pins to replicate the studs that hold the leather to the chair frame. This involves cutting most of the shaft off 150 pins.

This is is gonna be a beauty when finished. Looks like you have to be a jack of all trades to build this one.Love
Man he took his time in the sun
Had a dream to understand
A single grain of sand
He gave birth to poetry
But one day will cease to be
