A little more done to the pod. The first picture shows the pod racer in the movie and how the weathering looks with scorching from the engines. This is how I wanted it to look on the diorama. I have also worked out a way to hide the rods that will hold the pod and engines in place with the wiring inside. There is still much more detail to add along with the screen, satellite dish and Anakin himself. More soon

The pod is almost complete. I have finished weathering with some sand colour and exhaust soot and then varnished it all with some vallejo satin varnish. The next step was to fit the windscreen in place. This was made from a piece of clear acetate, with some heat shrink tubing cut and place at the bottom of the screen to represent the rubber. This was not an easy task, I had to roll the acetate to give it a bend before I glued into place. I then weathered the glass panel slightly with sand oils to match with the rest of the model. I still have the antennas to apply, but this will be done at the final stages of the diorama, so not to damage them. I just need to finish off the engines and then onto the diorama itself.
More soon, happy modelling.

Just a very quick update on the diorama. I’m finishing off the actual model parts before I start to construct the diorama itself. Here, you can see the link cable between the pod and the engines. You will note the hook on one end, this is placed/attached on the end of the cable attachment fixed to the pod as shown. This not only looked ugly but was very wrong to the original, so, with a little work I have adjusted the cable accordingly to fit where is belongs. I have also had to reshape the cable parts to fit around the pods front section allowing to rest on the cable support.
