BigGrin Hi All
onwards with this months build, now its the dry mounting of the bilg keels [theses will be permamently fitted after the final hull shaping].Firstly mark out as instructed then add the pins to the keels, here i made a change the instructions say to use a pin to make the holes needed but i found this split the ply so i opted to drill the holes instead. All thats left for this month is the fiting of the propeler shafts but as i have a few enhancements planed here it will take a little longer before pics are posted ,as ussual all comments are welcome
regards

BigGrin Hi All
A bit more on the Akagi enhancments iv been planing around the stern/screw area.Firstly i followed the intstructions as per the download but then took off an extra 1mm from the shaped dowels, then useing plastic card sheet i made and shaped two blanks to the desired dimemsions and glued these to the dowels to represent the rivet flange ussaly associated with this area,il add drops of pva after final fitting to represent the rivets.Il also be adding the same type of enhancment to the screw shaft suports and adding some airofoil type shaping to the aliminium supports aswell. As ussaul all comments are welcome

Hi Andy!
Thank you for sharing the photos. The edges of the armor plates are very sharp. They looks very attractive.
I notice that you extended the stern side plates, didn't you?
I attach two photos. 1st one is from DeAGOSTINI Japan's original step. Red lines shows the margin of the plate. 2nd one is from the plan of 1/350 the Akagi and red lines shows the plates. It is easy to notice that original plate is shorter than the one of 1/350. I think you are so careful that you have found the mine of DeAGOSTINI Japan.
Best Regards,
Yuraro

BigGrin Thank you Karl and Yaturo for the kind words,Yaturo thanks for pointing out the anomally in the length of the rear armour plate strips but i fitted these as suplied not by extending them,if you fit these from the corect hull former thats where they reach too .It would seem that the rear plates are now supplied longer but the instructions have not changed,it certainly had me scratching my head for a while as the 25mm mark wasnt in the correct place as per the instructions [the end of the armour strip went way past it].
In the end my desision was to fit as supplied as i surmised the armour belts would have reached that far towards the stern to protect the steering mecanisms and it looked right in my eyes.
Heres a few more pic's of the build so far im now back up to date with deliverys and the placment of components so far made are guestimates of there final positions, as ussual all comments and questions are welcome

Hi Andy!
You are right!BigGrin Your explanation, "The amour plates protect the important mechanisms of the ship" is very logical to be understood. Any one who know this principle do not take the mistake about the amour plates.Cool

Blushing Thanks Mr T
for the kind words of encouragement, after being out of modeling for a good while it is truely an enjoyable learning curve making these models an enlightening experience with the comments and help from other people on the forum[even i have learned things from here and i hope iv helped other people do the same].At times i think i bite off more than i can chew trying to achieve what i think is the best i can do,and fail to get the results i want but i guess thats the perfectionist in me and all modelers that want to achieve the best they can.Again thanks to yourself and Mike and everyone else that looks and comments on my efforts its all apreciated

Angry Hi All
not much progress todate still waiting for last months issue's,was told by c/s that it was sent out on the 15th and i would recieve by friday just past [6th]well im still waiting, thing is they have taken my cash but refuse to send me out a replacment as the time hasnt elapsed yet.Cursing
On another note after the advice from Yaturo and his recomendations on the build and the discovery that no plans of any sort are provided,iv sent for a set of Miyuki-kia 1/200 blueprints .Yes there 1/200 not 1/250 but close enough for what i need ,this should resolve any issue,s brought to light so i can rectify them to my satisfaction
regards
