Nice work Roeland.
I like the way you have treated the cutout. The transition from planking through ribs really works well.
Kind regards,
Garth

Playing around with a entire gun crew for a 24 pounder. It looks to busy inside the hull - perhaps a consideration for the quarter deck....

BigGrin looking good 👍. Guns on the Victory had a crew of five plus a quarter gunner who looked after four guns that made sure they had enough shot and charges .Hope this helps

Hi Martyn,
I based my information on the "Haynes HMS Victory" in which it states that firing a 24 pounder from one broadside requires a crew of 12 - however firing from both sides only requires a crew of 6 for each gun. I thought the crew was moving between guns....I don't know if this is correct?

I actually build my first model earlier - probably around 8 years old. But as it goes live takes over and if it was not for the fact I got retrenched and took early retirement I would not have the time to indulge in this model.

The 3 x 32 pounders are now in position.

To allow views of the upper gun deck I decided to hoist in the launch. I had to use a bit of imagination as there is very little available on this subject matter. To avoid too many crew on the deck I decided that the yard and stay tackles would be hoisted in from middle deck; using the capstan.I will still add supports for the yard from the top pendants and the guy ropes will be guided from the quarter deck.
The imaginary scene would depict a tactical retreat - with boats hoisted and guns fired at the enemy.
