Nice work Alan. I would say plastic kits can take as long as a wooden one but level of detail is far different. Your doing a great job smoothing down the hull. Chris On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Looking great on that hull Alan. Top work on the filling and sanding, which I know can be such a mind-numbing and laborious task, but it is one of THE most important parts of the modelmaking process. The end result, after paint, is directly dependant on the level of surface preparation work at the beginning. What you are doing will pay big dividends in the look of the model further down the line, so it will always be worth it.

Alan, I just received the Takom “Bruno” turret. I cannot think of a better companion piece for this build you have going!
I’ll post some pics tomorrow, in a separate thread.

Mick, Garth, thanks for looking in and for your comments.... Moved a little forward with the hull preparation by adding the etch grates. Followed on with attaching the templates and drilling out the holes for the ladder rungs etc. Added the porthole eyebrows followed by the ladder rungs, fiddly work but well worth it. That is some seriously good etchwork there Alan, you are fast becoming a master at that! I like the manufacturers' idea of offering a PE template for drilling the ladder rung holes, very simple but very effective and so much neater too!
