I`m not sure how quick the Spitfire build will start. I will wait until I have at least three deliveries, so I can get a build flow going where I can see what`s up and coming, whilst keeping an eye on anything that may crop up that may need close attention. It`s my first ever attempt on something of this scale and I wan`t to get it right. I will be painting as per the official build and as I have never spray painted anything in my life I want as good a surface as possible to work with. So onward and upwards Thanks for looking in and the nice comments Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi All, Latest update as to the progress with my Sots build. With the planking finished as far as needed, it was time to start the build up of the stern. I was concerned about the fixing of the stern pieces, purely with respect that I thought a bit more grip may be required to hold it all together. It may not be the case, but I thought better to put it in and not need it, than to find out later if something came apart. So here`s the pics: Used some quadrant beading to support the top panels.(Pic 1) Made up the rest of the stern pieces almost as one operation, so it could all be clamped in place in one go. Having got it all clamped up, I decided to add some balsa blocks to give it a bit more grip. (Seems to have worked)- (Pic 2+3) Now before anyone mentions it, yes I cut the upper stern planks to short, but my copout is that I can cover the edges of the stern plate and it won`t notice when it`s painted black. (I hope) So, that done, I fitted the keel parts and the beak frame (terminology may be a bit adrift). (Pics 4-6) Now, you will see in the first of the last three pics that I have left gaps in the keel pieces. As by the instructions early in the build I built in encapsulated wing nuts for the process of mounting the finished build. For now that`s all. Comments and/or suggestions will be gratefully accepted. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"
