Other things cropped up today which meant I didn't have enough time to start protecting the hull so moved onto working on the main deck area.. .. First thing I did was to use a little filler on the upright planking. By sanding down the rounded edges of the bamboo strips meant very little filler had to be used.. .. This area will be sanded down tomorrow ready for painting... Moved onto starting the planking of the bullworks, first job was to trim down the port linings but still left them protruding slightly. Smoothed the bullwork ready for the planking... .. Trimmed the first plank so it fitted neatly under the bottom port linings... Gandale attached the following image(s):

Didn't really like the idea of simply planking the bullworks then painting them. I wanted the bullworks to look like the inside planking of the beak so painted some .5mm basewood strips to match the port linings. Once dry then used permanent marker to caulk the edges and as the strips were painted first then no bleed from the marker could be seen.. .. Once the planking was complete then finished sanding down the port lining level with the planks... .. Painted the portlings and surround to match the planks and left to dry... Last thing I did tonight was to cut a piece of .6 x 5mm walnut strip, gave it a coat of walnut stain to match the grating surrounds. Glued the waterway in place... .. Tops of the bullworks have still to be finished but will leave that till later to ensure I have the correct height... Will do the other side tomorrow.... Happy building all...
