Thanks very much for the nice comments I thought Id get the gunport lids and frames done next. It's not due in the build for a long time yet but that's probably because they are modelled in the open position so will be at risk of being broken off. As I intended them to be closed there is no reason why they cant go on at an earlier stage. They were first degreased in alcohol, glued closed with CA, primed and then sprayed satin black. The pics show one side done but both sides are now complete. It took a while as the gunports still needed a fair bit of filing and messing about to get these in straight. The main reason for doing this was that there was no depth to the gunports and I also like the effect of the "checkerboard" when they are closed. The top row will still show 28 cannon sticking out though so best of both worlds really Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Thankyou Bernd Added some of the bow details, the roundhouses, doors and made the catheads. Not sure what wood was supplied for the catheads but as I wanted to leave them natural I used some 5x5 walnut I had lying around and just put some danish oil on them. The catheads are not fixed in place yet as I think they get pinned in later. Even though I have gone for a painted look I still want to show as much of the natural dark wood as I can. Just need to paint the outside edge of the bow deck black now. More soon Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Thanks for the nice comments Just a quick point here on the catheads. The instructions don't say exactly where to place the catheads, they say to place a cannon in position at the 1st gunport and lay a 5x5 piece of wood near it to mark the cathead cutout. This is simply to make sure you have left enough room for the cannon, fine so far But, when you come to fit the catheads you also need to fit the knees aft and under each one and you may not have left enough room between the 1st gunport frame and the cathead. I had to cut down and file the metal aft knees to get them in and have lost a couple of mm, so basically it's not the whole knee anymore. The best way for anyone who has not reached this yet would be to fit the 1st gunport frame, then place the knee next to it and mark off where the 5mm square cathead cutout should be made in the bulwark. Small update, capping rails are done except for the 2 at the stern, these come after the stern gallery base goes on. Have also fitted the rubbing strakes on each side, I wanted these a little wider than the ones in the instructions so I used 5mm strips instead of 4mm. Next up is some work on the trim at the stem Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):

She really is looking fantastic, I was toying between te black and red or the black gold for when I eventually start mine, however after watching yours come together I think I may have to go for the black and red

Thanks for looking in Just started putting on the trim at the bow / stem - I have chosen a slightly wider plank for the stem trim and tapered it from 3mm at one end to 2mm at the top of the stem Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Thanks for looking and the comments The first pic below is just to show the nice colour the copper is starting to go, still havent polished it yet, will wait until I can get a stand to avoid too much handling after. Finished off the stem decorations and the anchor holes and fitted the bow knightheads. Next was to complete the capping rail at the stern and fit the stern gallery base, this took a bit of persuading to bend as I had already marked, planked and painted the inside bulwark so was a bit thicker and more awkward to get the curve. As you can see there is always a way Finally fitted the bow rail and columns - they are probably a mm too high really but it dosent notice. Added the 1mm white strip for decoration Currently on Stage 81, Rudder is next up. More soon stevie_o attached the following image(s):
