BigGrin Hi All

More done, the bow gun bucket was made from 3 pieces of 5 mm ply and some styrene pillars with a 1/32 ply liner this was then attached to the deck, the ply liner is proud because another deck section is to go on top of the central bow deck this extra will be trimed back after its attached.

Braces were added to the hull where the bow deck will be attached and then the deck was fixed in place with epoxy resin. Once the epoxy had set the deck edge gaps were filled with filler and now awaits a good sanding before the central deck is added. More soon.

Regards

BigGrin Hi All

The central bow section has now been glued in place and then filler was used from the torpedo doors forward so when it was sanded back the deck and hull blend together. The gun bucket was trimmed back and a small amount of filler used around the edges to tidy it up.

I couldnt resist adding some fittings so added the bow fairlead and the torpedo doors. Next its the skullcap and bridge and have started by cutting out some templates. More soon.

Regards

BigGrin Hi All

Started on the scratch build of the skullcap by fixing the first 5 formers in place . Next the bottom row of plates were added the two side pieces go across to the hull sides and back to aid location the running light housings were fixed in place and then the hull sides were built up to match, the inner hull sides were also lined with 1/32 ply to give a backing for the built up parts. The skullcap side decks were then added this will enable the fitting of the final four templates. The first facet has been fitted to the front of the skull cap but each one will have to be carefully sized to fit . More soon.

Regards

Andy Cool

BigGrin Hi All

More progress on the bridge area. After measuring and trimming back the bridge side steps the main upper open bridge was measured up and constructed from 2 mm ply some scratch built bridge fittings were added along with some dummy doors and the rear box attached, still more to add here like handles and floor duck boards along with a raised portion around the forward central binocular area.

Once the central bridge area was fixed in place I could then proceed with the sides of the skull cap formers and managed to complete one side just the other side to do now and then the facets can start going on. More soon.

Regards
