Well many thanks for all of your kind comments. Have continued with the rigging but working in some of the tight spaces and trying to thread the blocks is proving slightly hard for old fingers. But here we go. Managed to get the lifts rigged up on the spars. Then was onto the braces, this is were i came unstuck and started pulling off the blocks that were attached to the underside of the foremast top, but have started to get there. Well that is it for now. am not that happy with the rigging as it is a massive learning curve but it is a start and will see what happens. So for now happy building folks and have fun. Regards Foz

Fox Looking very good. Rigging s a real art especially trying to get the tension correct but yours looks absolutely spot on. Very well done. Happy Modelling

Thanks all for the comments.
And i know the arthritis in the fingers Whiz, i have it in them also.
Well nearly at the end now with the main rigging. I am tempted to just leave it at that but not sure so if anyone has good tips on adding the sails they would be much appreciated.
For now going to finish the rigging and make some rope coils to hand over various places for a few finishing touches.
Regards
Foz

Do you have rigging tools as it would make your job easier and some good forceps as well, also have a look on YouTube as there are some good tutorials out there and have a look at some here as well as other builds on here, you have to put the sails on it makes the ship imo but other also like them without or rigged up in the put away position. Well got the rest of the rigging attached, fingers crossed it is all in the right place as the plans are not that good with this build. So here are a few pics. Well that's it for tonight. Just going to sleep on weather or not i still add the sails, but will think about them tomorrow. Happy modeling folks. Regards Foz

On another note. Started to make some rope coils just for decoration but not sure which is best, weather to leave the thread natural or coat it with wax. Any thoughts at which would look best, have attacked a picture of what i have played with. The waxed thread is on the left. Any comments most welcome. Regards FOz

Hi Foz, rigging looks fab and a credit to your skill and patience.... . As for the rope coils, I would go for the waxed twine, the wax helps to get rid of the hairy appearance.... Regards Alan

Hi Foz, I'd agree with Gandale on that; the rope work does look smoother when waxed. A by product is that the waxing prevents the ropes from picking up dust like a magnet. Happy building David

Looking great !! Personally I HATE rigging but when you stand back and look at it, and the complexity in each knot and cord it gives me an enormous sense of achievement, as I'm sure it does you !!! You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

P.S Wax is best - and it won't go fury over time as natural tends to do !! You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Foz That is looking stunning. You really have produced a wonderful model. My vote would be along the lines ( ) of what others have said and go with the waxed version. Should keep the thread safe against humidity changes which could see the coils loosing shape over time. Happy Modelling

Thanks for the comments folks, much appreciated.
I will be waxing all the threads and have made a few more coils but not attached them yet,
Instead have started to add the sails, hopefully an updated pic a bit later.

Sails look great, they look to have a very natural fall, good job Jase “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

Hi again folks Again, thanks for the kind comments, they keep me going on this build. Well got the sails on the foremast done eventually as there was a lot of rigging to do as can be seen in the pictures and i think there is still more to come on them. A close up of the amount of rigging around the foremast.
