Hi Tom,
really nice build and an inspiration to watch.
How did you get this intense caulking structure between the planks? Did you use a pencil or a black pen marker?

First of all thanks to anybody for comments. I will be stuck with this copPer for a while so you get to see diferent stages of it. Mr.Quist wrote:Hi Tom,

Cheers, Timm Hi Timm, The caulking is done by using black marker pen of the edges of planks. For decking I used 3mm x 1mm x 100mm wallnut planks treated with natural danish oil. I hope it helped.

Did you double-plank the deck or did you use the walnut instead of the suplied planks ?
Cheers, Timm

Hi Timm I double planked but didn't use planks supplied because they were too thick. If I put 1mm planks on top of the supplied ones all cannons would be too high up and barrels would'n fit the gun ports. Instead of that I used thin sheet of balsa. Just did it exackly the way as first two decks supplied in magazines. Then wallnut planks went on top if that. I hope that's clear enough :-) Happy modelling ;-)

Hello Tom,
You convinced me. I am still not satisfied the way my decks looks like. And the way you did it sound much better to me. Just ordered my walnut strips. Thank you very much for that hint. Did you do the top decks the same way ?
Cheers, Timm

Looking good so far! The colour of the rest of the build realy sets off the copper tiles? Don't worry about running out of tiles I have probably got in excess of 300 left, as I made use of a lot of the off-cuts. I have probably tiled a little higher up the hull than was needed, my intention is to paint a thin copper arc over the lowest point of the lower wale. This will then finish off the water line, at the moment I am plating the rudder and carrying on with the masts and spars. If there is a particular part of the plating that you are unsure of please feel free to ask me? you may well come up with a better alternative but as I done mine already you now have a model to compare with. Keep up the good work and don't rush the tiles. Steve..

Thanks for comments. I really enjoy tiling it. It takes ages but needs to be done. I still have quite long way to go but there is no rush :-) farrabass wrote:Looking good so far! Thanks guys. I've got little update. I'm in a really slow part of the plating... working around the waterline, etc It takes loooong time to move forward but an end effect is briliant. Have a look 1. 2. Stay tuned
