Totally agree with the earlier comments - a lovely 'authentic' looking shade of colour on the wood, it should set off the gold 'blingy-bits' beautifully later on! And belated congratulations too on your promotion, well deserved! Keep the pics coming!
Robin Hi Robin, thank you for the very kind comments... appreciate your continued support.... Regards Alan

Short update today... Happy to say I have finally finished the work on the lower hull... .. Gave her 3 coats of Ronseal satin varnish applied with a soft brush, when the second coat was dry I lightly sanded the hull with 320 grade paper before giving her the third and final coat.... .. I am so pleased with the results I think I will celebrate with a small Remy Martin brandy.... .. Tomorrow I can move onto starting with issue 49... .. Happy building all.. Beautiful Alan! (I mean the ship's hull! ) The colour of that stain and the varnish is just right and still shows off the treenailing and the individual planks to perfection! Well done indeed M8 and I can't wait to see the deck fittings start to sprout up all over the place (that's when it really gets fiddly! (Especially after one too many brandys or so I'm told!) ) Best of luck, she's going to be a masterpiece! The satin finish on the hull is fantastic, I will be looking back at this build for inspiration when I plank my next hull. Steve
