Hi, I've been using this forum for around 18 months now & it's great but in the last 3-4 months i've noticed that it seems to be attracting more & more ads for shoes or kitchens.I've just been on it this morning & this is getting beyond a joke.Nearly every post is for kitchens.I'm not sure what can be done but can't DeAgostini delete members profiles that use this forum as nothing more than a way to sell stuff? After all it's meant to be a forum about model building not kitchen building. What do the rest of you think? Stu.

You're wasting your time,
A most of the time it is a forum Bot that is designed to do this
or
B someone that is paid to do this, they spend their time registering with websites to put this spam up
There are ways to stop bots, captcha registration...you know the alphanumeric things you have to enter on some sites...if you have trouble reading them a bot doesn't stand a chance. The only way to stop humans is to have all posts manually accepted before allowing them to go live....a right pain in the proverbial for the poor guy who has to do itCrying, only thing you can do is report as spam.

I have mentioned previously that we are working towards a system of putting this matter to bed once and for all.
In the meantime all we can ask is that you bear with us, and be assured that all Spam is removed as soon as it is picked up.

Thanks

Cheers for that Tom..I come on here every day, several times a day to check postings and latest updates and been rather annoyed at the amount of spam there was 13 of them at one time a week or so ago..Any way, thanks for the heads up on what is being done about spam postings...

All spam is removed and the perpetrators banned. We are currently working towards a new system which will bring an end to it.

Crazy thing about where the latest lot is (Use of the Forum) section. I can't post in there, just find it interesting that the trouble makers could!!!

Just an observation, on the way forum works.

Until this new way of getting rid of the problem comes into play I think there should be a few more moderators to deal with it...there are times ive come into the forum (logged in) and no one is there im all alone and I see spam posts then...limited moderator temp power should be allowed until the new way is up and running plus it puts less strain on admins who dont get in till hours later
