Another season of Top Gear has been and gone in the blink of an eye, with the ever-short series coming in for mixed reviews from critics.
Some fans of the series have long suspected that the antics of Clarkson, Hammond and May would come to an end in the not too distant future, with more recent episodes leaving the distinct impression that the producers are running out of ideas, having already done everything that it is possible to do in a car.
Even the show's eldest presenter, James May, told The Express why he thought the curtain must eventually come down, way back in 2012:
"We will have to have the courage to know when to leave," he said. "We're at a party. I don't want to be trying to play the piano on my own, drunk, with all the chairs up, the lights on and the hosts standing there in their dressing gowns."
However, it seems that there could be life in TG yet, with Clarkson himself tweeting his surprise at the fact that the latest series earned the franchise its highest viewing ratings for many years.
Is it time to put this old dog to sleeep or not?

Even after all these years of TG I never get bored of watching it and today I think a lot comes down to the banter and antics of the three presenters. It's nice to see a review of some of the exotic cars they throw around the track but I actually enjoy the challenges more. As for "is it time to put the old dog to sleep"? Well, Clarkson does bring a lot of humour to the show and it just wouldn't be the same without him Spencer

In some respects, yes, it's getting 'seen it, done it, got the Tee shirt'...... but long may it continue. It's almost a British institution now, like Morecambe and Wise. Past it, old hat, but still extremely watchable.
Can't wait 'till season 22. Roy.

See for me the challenges are killing it "Driving in the most remote part of the world, my diff explodes, I fix it and join the others" Really? The challenges have become scripted jokes, that aren't that funny any more Yes I do enjoy the banter, and yes they do have some good one liners, but to string it out over 2 episodes, and the last 2 at that, just too much! For me, it needs to be more cars, less "then the producers gave us another challenge" When you watch old ones on Dave, they certainly were better Get back to what you know TG, it's what you're best at The Brawn BuildWentworth Court Dolls HouseThe MP4/4 Build[ulr=http://forum.deagostini.co.uk/default.aspx?g=posts&t=36693]The 97T Build[/url]
