My father served on HMS Artful, pennant number (P456/S96) She was one of the Amphion class. The picture of HMS Alliance, is how the Artful was after her refit (1955-1960) and was one of her sister ships.

Looks like the £7m restoration has paid off with double the visitor numbers since the re-opening - http://www.royalnavy.mod...bmarine-museum-visitors

I have been aboard her she is in WW2 look internal but in her cold war skin external longer sleeker and lost the deck gun so she was quieter under water. unbelievably cramped but well worth a visit and there is a free ferry from the Historic dockyard “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain
