With the evolution of F1 and teams forever striving to make cars lighter and more stream lined, it's amazing how much diiference there is in size. Here is a comparison with the MP4/4 Monocoque and the 1/8th MP4/23 main body which has a smaller monocoque inserted. Warthog attached the following image(s):

There's a You Tube video somewhere where LH and JB are looking at an MP4/4 in storage at McLaren and I remember Lewis saying how thin the carbon fibre was around the cockpit compared to todays F1 cars.
