Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your time with us and am sure you will thoroughly enjoy your build..... Hope to see you publish a diary so we can all see how you are progressing, plus of course the members here can help to resolve any issues you may come across.... As for rigging books, best one I have at present is 'Rigging Period Ship Models by Lennarth Petersson'. Hope this helps.... Cool Cool

Have PM'd you....

Regards

BigGrin Hi Drittz
Welcome to the forum and the Victory is a great build with plenty of build diary's to peruse if you need too. As for a good book on ships rigging you wont go far wrong with this 'Rigging Period Ship Models, link below

http://www.amazon.co.uk/...;keywords=ships+rigging

This is only a link to the book with some searching there should be cheaper options on price. Good luck with your build and dont be afraid to ask any questions you may have as we are here to help

Welcome to Modelspace DrittzBigGrin
Good luck with your Victory Build, there are many good rigging books available as mentioned above but you really wont have any trouble if you are using the magazine instructions and the official build diary as a guide.
Look forward to seeing your progress

Hello Drittz,

Hello from another US Victory builder! One book I haven't seen mentioned above is C. Napean Longridge's "Anatomy of Nelsons Ships." The title is a bit misleading, as the book deals solely with the construction of a 1/48 HMS Victory model.

Another must have is the volume from the Anatomy of the Ship series on the Victory.

Yet another is the James Lees volume on the "Masting and Rigging of English Ships of war, 1680-1860"

There are also the volumes by Lavery on the Ship of the Line, and lastly, the McGowen volume on the HMS victory, "Her Construction, Career, and Restoration". (This last one is exceptional, but is stupid $$)

Tired, Old, and Cranky!

Hi Drittz,
Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to seeing your build.
I have two books that I find very helpful: The Model Ship Builders Assistant, Charles. G. Davis and Ship Modeling from Stem to Stern, Milton Roth
But I'm sure that you will find the instructions that are issued with the parts are more than adequate. The Official Build Diary is also an excellent source of info.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Garth
